Valentines Day good or bad?

Should we do all the nice romantic things on valentines day?ie:Flowers ,cards Dinner and gift.

Maybe we should do the above sporadicly through the year to let that special person know we care and give valentines day a miss. What do you think?

Mind you if it gets me some more bahts lets have it more often cool cool lol

Alex and I sporadically give each other gifts all year long, and then load one another down again on V-Day. I like it cos it's a day I know I'm getting something and going to give something. The rest of the year is random.

Which is also fun, mind you.
This one's for you.

I don't mind it, but I don't think it's a big deal either. I've learned not to expect it to be some big thing.

I'd just way rather celebrate my lover than all of the other stupid shit we celebrate (Santa Claus/Jesus, Easter Bunny/Jesus, the Irish, famous dead people, etc.). So I try not to be a grouch about this one. lol

totally. giggle

my best friend's boyfriend totally wins the prize for the best valentine ever. when they were first starting to go out, on valentine's day he walked up to her at her job and put a crumpled piece of paper into her hand and then left. when she uncrumpled it, it was a crudely-cut heart shape with the word FUCK written in crayon. i thought that was brilliant. lol

I really like spicy food. I mostly put Jalapenos on a lot of my food.

you don't have to buy shit if that's not your thing. it is not consumerism at all to walk hand in hand, tell me that you love me, cuddle on the couch, make my favorite dish... etc, etc. it's about an open declairation of your feelings. yes, you can do that many times during the year. which means you can also do it on this day for lovers too biggrin

anything that you do that is a surprise or out of the ordinary is romantic. if you say you don't "do" valentine's i think that is a cop out. but hey, i'm a romantic. shrug

I think any excuse to spoil a loved one is a good enough excuse. Yes, Valentine's Day is a completely commercialized and fabricated ode to love, but in the end, it is what you make it. Your idea of spreading the surprises throughout the year is a good one, and I find it much more romantic to be spontaneous. That said, this will be my first V-Day with a partner and I'm quite happy to finally be able to celebrate it!

Well we were supposed to be having a barbecue (not for V-day, but just happened to be today). Nothing romantic, but a few people coming over and with the family here, but we just cancelled it. smile I didn't really feel up for it and Mon's a bit sick at the moment. We'll probably have a normal day.

Valentines Day sucked when I worked at a flower shop for it and had to work like 50 hours in one week for $7 an hour.

Otherwise, it rocks. I've never been with anyone for it, but my friends buy candy for me because they think I'm pitiable. No complaints.

I used to get really upset when I was younger if I didn't have a good Valentine's Day. Now, I don't care that much. My boyfriend and I do enough things throughout the year to keep me happy. I wouln't mind a heart box filled with chocolates, though. wink I do share Valentine's with my BFF, my mom, and my little doggie.

I don't really do Valentine's Day. I hate what a cliched holiday it is--all those lame boxes of candy and the obligatory dozen roses. I've NEVER given flowers or candy for Valentine's Day. EVER.

I got my dear friend a copy of the new "A Date With John Waters" CD, which she adored. I got my ex (who I'm still cohabitating with) the new "Beauty and the Beast--Season 1" DVD set.

Thank you. V-Day has become as ridiculous as Christmas with all this gift sh!t. Every day should be Valentine's Day, and it should be about treating each other with love, respect & dignity. I'll take that over a monetary gift or some mushy declaration of love any day.
