i'm considering perhaps getting another pup next summer, and basenji's crossed my mind. but i haven't looked into them to thoroughly yet and the only thing i know is that they look absolutely adorable, lol. so what kind of dog is it in respects to character? i suppose they need a lot of physical stimuli since their legs seem to be built for long walks and lots of running. not that i'd mind because i spent about 2 hours actively walking a day with my current dog. 30 mins mornings, 30 mins at 5pm and about an hour again at 9pm. awesome! i have a hard time convincing my dog training clients to walk their dogs for 30 minutes, let alone 2 hours! Besenjis are fun dogs but sometimes have problems with other dogs or with cats.

Honestly, I've always loved animals but I also think my paternal instincts are starting to come into play. Dorothy is my little baby. It's a beautiful bunny btw.
Thank you, I agree. | |

Besenjis are fun dogs but sometimes have problems with other dogs or with cats. gosh i know. there's quite a few people around town that i see every day walking their dogs at all hours and in all kinds of weather. but we're a small group compared to the people who don't. there's this couple a few doors down the road who have a big dog and its sad to see how they just take him exactly 50 paces to a strip of grass on the other side of the road, let him do what he has to do and turn around for home. it takes about 2 minutes in total each time. that's about 6 mins of walking each day. the dog looks healthy though and they treat him well. i can always hear them have fun in their very small garden in summer. plus the dog is in that garden all day long, so he does get enough fresh air. but still, i'm like "why get a dog if you refuse to walk it?" i just keep track of what my dog wants. general routine is what i put in my post above. but if he doesn't feel like it, he'll let me know and we just turn around and go home. and other times, like in the weekend i just let him walk wherever he wants to even if it takes all morning, lol. i'd rather be outside for half an hour more, knowing that my dog is happy and had a good walk, than i would sitting on the couch having to look at him all night and know in the back of my head that i should be outside in the street with him instead of being lazy. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

M yup, they certainly do. it wouldn't surprise me if they did get mixed somewhere in history. it would appear that the corgy's were specifically bred for the short legs and good sense of smell to allow them to hunt small game, like hares, foxes, rabbits and rats, close to the ground or in underground tunnels and holes. the basenji seems to be a branch from that same pedigree that was bred as more of a hunter for larger prey since they have nice long legs for great speed and good vision because they are high from the ground. He's adoreable. My friend had 3 Corgies and they were so cute. M MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop!
