Just thought I'd ask lol Have you been happy with your first and only job or have you had a few like myself falloff ? What we're your reasons for leaving your jobs?

Oh man, I have quit more than one job without having a new one lined up (as I did with my last one). I've also been laid off a couple of times, which was not fun. I would love to stay at a place for many, many years, but unfortunately, that has not been the case for me.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Me either eek . I'm looking for a new job myself and I have quit a few in the past just like it was nothing. I think it's rare now days to have longevity on a job. But then again maybe that's just not the case for me and you.

hug Good luck on your job search, I know you will find something quickly. smile You're right, longevity on jobs seems to be a thing of the past for a variety of reasons for many people. A lot of times, I think people get a new job because they don't like the old one, or they just need a change.

I left my first job when they moved offices and I didn't want to move with them, so I got another job closer, but then I moved to the suburbs and thought I would like to work 5 mins from home, so I changed jobs again after only 10 months. That was 10 years ago now, and 7 of those years I have been on maternity leave.

I have quit at least five jobs and only one without having something else lined up. Luckily, I still got severance pay from that job and I got another job a week after it ran out. I'm a signle parent of three and that was a stupid thing to do: I went from 50 grand to 25 grand a year. I quit because I felt my job was unethical and ever though we struggled for a couple of years after, I don't regret being able to sleep at night again.

I've never quit a job, actually - I left one to return to school, but I don't think that ought to count. I started with my current company while studying, and I've been through six positions with them. Barring any catastrophes (or offers too good to refuse) I expect to stay with them until I retire.

I've had lots of jobs and never been fired, but some of them have been time-limited so I haven't exactly quit either - they just fizzled out. confused

I've been lucky with some employers that agreed to write me two different reference letters: one saying that I quit (that I can use to apply for other jobs) and one saying that I was let go (that I can use to get unemployment benefits).

I've quit 5 jobs.

Heres my resume.

I worked at a green house and got fired for having tomato fites. Then I worked in the mailroom of the newspaper for yrs and quit when I graduated.

I quit a factory to work at a convenience store. I got 'permanently layed off' from the convenience store.

Then I got a job telemarketing and quit cuz I was in school full time and worked full time and had no social life, so I lost the job.

Then I got a job at a massage therapy place. My boyfriend (now husband made me quit)

Then I got another telemarketing job and quit to have a kid.

I've never been fired.

I have quit all my jobs except my last one, where I took a package when they moved their claims office to another city. I was pregnant at the time so I decided not to look for another job and stay home with my son.

My new job is a 6 month contract which is perfect as I am going back to school next fall.

For a second I thought you meant "tomato fits", like maybe you got so pissed your face turned tomato red. lol

"Tomato fights" sound a lot more fun, and almost worth getting fired over. thumbs up!

OMG I can kinda understand that.. lol

When Prince was playing ONA I was desperate to see him, and the stress of trying to book tickets, get time off work, WITHOUT fear of being sent to the Far East with very little or no notice.. sheeit, it certainly got to the stage that I MUST attend these shows.. Thankfully it all turned out in the end.. lol

I havent QUIT any jobs.. in the way its been portrayed in this thread.. apart from crummy jobs that I didnt care about YEARS ago.. when I was at uni.. but thats a different story.

I have almost always had a new job lined up before I have handed in my notice.. its the safest way in the UK, cos if you just quit a job without the security of another to go to, you wont be entitled to any benefits and may shoot yourself in the foot, if another job doesnt come up quickly.
