Imago (or anyone else for that matter!) I need some gift advice!

My friend mark is having a suprise birthday party at 3 today, and much like you he is into computers and kayaking. He also likes outdoors stuff and is alway wearing sandals. I have a budget of about 100 bucks. Whats a good gift?

kayakers need two things:

1) an anchor (15-20 pound costs 20 bucks or less)

2) good kayaking books. Every state with alot of water now has kayak books that conform to that region (20 bucks tops)

3) a bottle of wine and some chocolate--kayakers are sensitive people!

How about something homemade, like a little scrapbook of your kayaking adventures together?

1) Outdoor sporting stores all have marine sections.
2) Large sporting goods stores like Sports Authority
3) Boating stores
4) Kayak/Canoe retailers (California has tons of them--sometimes they combine them with surf shops).

hmmm.

Well, they make wetsuits, but I'm not sure if they are specifically for kayakers and they can get expensive.

The best and most usefull things to get kayaker are 1) anchor, 2) dry-bags and 3) books.

some sporting stores sell your basic plastic dry-bag, but some carry really cool ones where you can store your stuff in different compartements. Dry-bags can go from 10 bucks for your basic plastic bag, to 80 bucks for the fancy stuff. I'm ordering a really cool dry-bag from Amazon.com this spring.

Dry-bags are essential if you're carrying keys, cameras, and other electronics.

I'd seriously consider that shit. Kayaking is growing fast as a recreational thing in Florida becuase:

1) it's the best way to see Florida's coastal waterways and springs (we have the most type 1 springs of all the other states combined)

2) it's the best way to do shallow bay fishing. Kayaks get into places other boats can't.

http://www.amazon.com/Sea...ting-goods

That link shows you some pimp dry-bags. 50 bucks is pricey though.
They make cheaper ones that are awesome for around 20 bucks.

Go to Amazon and type "kayak" or "dry-bag"
