oh man, i just found out an asshole customer of ours died.

this guy was a serious pain in our ass. every time he came in there was some problem, usually because he didn't pay his bill on time. lately he'd been using his illness as an excuse, but there wasn't really anything we could do about it anyway. if he has insurance on a vehicle he has to pay for it. it was like "yes, i'm very sorry you were in the hospital, but we can't just float your insurance. it has to be paid. if it doesn't get paid then it will cancel." it was always a hassle with him for one thing or another.

well, i just found out that he died last month. he had cancer. i didn't even know thats why he'd been in the hospital. and now i feel bad. i wasn't very nice to him the last time he came to the office, b/c he was in here arguing with us again.

i wish i could go back and be nicer to him. now it just feels weird.

Don't stress out too much about it honey. You simply did not know.

And besides, bad karma will take care of your guilt for you.

hug Don't beat yourself up over it . As Imago said, you didn't know that the man was sick. It's always strange when someone we know passes away, even when they're not a personal friend or a family member. It's a strange feeling when we hear about their death, and know that we will never see them alive again. sad
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

When I lived in Vancouver I rented a tiny little backyard house with a washer and dryer room that I shared with some tenants in the main house. One of those tenants was the most annoying girl in the world who would always use the washer in the middle of the night and thereby causing quite a disturbance. So we got into arguments about that every now and then.

Anyway, one day her bodybuilder boyfriend shows up and tries to threaten me for "not treating his woman right". lol I just laugh in his face and inform him that that's between me and her. He then walks off, mumbling all kinds of threats including death threats. The whole thing pissed me off a lot and since he seemed like a real psycho, I mentally prepared for a fist fight and almost looked forward to hurting him really badly, since I really hate his kind.

The next week I get word he's dead. Fell asleep behind the wheel on his way from Montreal to Calgary and smashed into a tree. It made me feel incredibly weird. Not that I think my angry feelings had affected the matter in any way, but he suddenly became a person in my mind instead of the testosterone-pumped gorilla I had seen him as before. I still think about it sometimes, so I can definitely sympathize with you, Hillary.
