I agree with it -- Romans 8:28, among other Bible verses, reinforces it. It's just hard sometimes.
Amazing how hard it can be, sometimes. But, I have faith it all makes sense in time. God is faithful.

Well it depends on what you mean by "reason"... if you're talking about cause and effect (every event that happens has a cause), then I might agree with you...
If you're talking events happening to teach us lessons etc... then I strongly disagree...

Things/events that take place in our lives that are the most difficult to understand or accept do happen for a reason. I think Mach said it best. I also believe when one door closes, another one opens.
Psych,it's really strange that you posted this today because I said to my mother today that I understand why my grandmother and our friend passed away and at this point it time. Next time we talk, I'll tell you what I mean by that.

Are your serious? I TOTALLY think it's true. It's like my motto. I have total examples too. I randomly chose to go to massage school outta the blue. If I wouldn't of I wouldn't of met my husband. If I wouldn't of met my huband I wouldn't of broken up w/my fiance. If I woulda married my fiance, I never woulda had kids. (turns out he can't) Another one. My dad got diagnosed with a cancer and was given 6 months to live. I ended up finding out I was pregnant during this time. I prayed and prayed he would live to see the baby. He died when I was 5 months pregnant. I couldn't figure out why God did this to me. But I think that if I wouldn't of been preggo when he died I woulda took a nervous breakdown or something. But I kept my cool, cuz I knew I had a baby inside me. So ANYWAYS, now I'm thankful, he went while I was preggo, because, I got my son as a gift. If you really think about life. The things you wanted but didn't get, or vice versa, a lot of them add up, and turn out to look like it was all for a reason. [Edited 1/27/07 6:17am]

Heres another one.
If I wouldn't of started likeing Prince, (which was a weird selection for ME) I wouldn't of came to the org If I wouldn't came to the org, I wouldn't have *met* the person who talked me into throwing my abuseive husband outta the house. If I wouldn't of done that, he wouldn't have turned in to the man he is today, and the man I think he is going to become. And he could have ended up dying of Sirosis of the liver, or killed me, or killed soemone else, or who knows what.

So then, in light of everyone's posts, do you all think my quitting my job without having another one lined up was a good thing? RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Well, life is a series of events (duh) that lead youto where you are. You quit for a reason, and maybe nothing great will come of it, but remember, you don't know what would've happened if you woulda stayed. I'm sure something awesome, that makes you happy, WILL come of it, but it mite not happen rite away. Also your actions affect others too. Maybe your quitting, led to someone ELSES happiness. But, yeah, everything happens for a reason. How do you feel now that you quit?

[Edited 1/27/07 6:17am] So the reason you went to massage school was to have kids? The reason your dad got cancer and died was to protect your unborn child? You were certinaly able to find positive outcomes out of circumstances, but those weren't the reason you did them or that they happened. |

Going along with the idea that "things happen for a reason", I think that things
are just "meant to be"...so whether we choose a path ourselves, or whether the path chooses us, doesn't really matter. So psychodelicide, your choice in this case was "meant to be"....it doesn't mean however that it's going to be easy...and then again it may be.

I am still convinced that everything happens for a reason, however, I am also convinced that it is up to us to define that reason within our own lives. Events have meaning because we assign meaning to them. Events only have significance when we choose to do significant things because of them. ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

Not entirely. Things that happen have a cause. Not always a reason.
