The only actress to watch among this year's nominees is Emily Blunt, who is very very talented and was nominated for Supporting Actress for The Devil Wears Prada. Annette Benning was stunning in Running With Scissors. And I  Toni Collette. But this one did belong to Meryl, I have to agree. |

She's a character actress - a very good one, but a character actress nonetheless. Running With Scissors, which wanted desperately to be The Royal Tenenbaums, was no exception. The comparison is quirky nutso family comes unglued...script piles on eccentricity until audience cries uncle....they even stuck Gwynnie in there (EGADS!). The author's family says the book is completely fabricated, and I would't be surprised...eccentricity gets you published these days.
