Do you often get the feeling that you can easily understand certain things that few other people can?

What is it that you feel is so hard for others to grasp and what is it that is so hard for you to grasp?

Yes, I have an inferiority complex about certain kinds of knowlege.


Example:

1) I can't figure out balance sheets in Finance statements. I simply can't figure them out. Buisness Finance is always my worst subject.


2) I can't figure out the rules of sports. I just don't pay attention, so an illegal play can be made in football, hockey, or basketball, and I wouldn't have a clue it was made.



But a few things I never understood why folks couldnt' figure out:

1) Color. I can can mix primary colors of any paint or material and get the correct color I'm looking for. I never understood why people have a tough time figuring out what colors combined make other colors.

2) Inline skating and swimming. I don't understand folks who can't take to those things.

3) hair styles--I don't understand folks who don't listen to their stylist. If your stylist tells you it's time to go with short hair this year, and that long italian mop on top of your head is ruining the otherwise sexy face and distinctive cleft chin, then listen to him/her and get that shit cut!

My problem is that I can usually see and understand both sides to everything. People call that wishy washy.

Not often, but I'm definitely like that with a few things. Computers/software is one of those things. "It's so easy that anyone can do it"... Well do it your own damned selves then, fuck you very much!

Sure. I need little instruction for most things. At work, I become easily frustrated when others think they have to spell things out to me. I'd do best in a management role; partly because I loathe taking orders.

I'm lacking in social skills, western European politics and mathematics.

What is it that you feel is so hard for others to grasp and what is it that is so hard for you to grasp?
Others' simple grammar and punctuation. It makes me sad--primarily my good friends who cannot write simple papers in their Elementary English classes. Who are these professors who pass these rubbish essays? But I suppose "perception" is an awfully fancy way of putting it. It's just something that comes easier to some of us. With mathematics, fractions and pre-algebra, my brain twists until tears fall from my eyes. I've truly cried, silently, in pre-algebra. I cry until I fail, miserably. And yes, I have a tutor.

I basically consider myself an idiot savant; I would compare the way my mind works to Woody Allen's ability to write brilliantly, but at the same time be unable to function in a way that most would deem "normal". Not that I'm comparing the level of any of my talents to Woody's.


Because you're a brilliant writer and comedian who's devoted little time to learning things that you view as trivial and occasionally the gap between your way of thinking and that of most of the rest of the world weirds you out.
