and yeah, the end of that movie messed me up, too. i think it's because you don't expect a movie to have an unhappy ending like that. most movies with endings like that aren't allowed to be made or shown. it didn't make me sick or faint per se, but i had to walk around the block a few times afterwards and have a good cry. nod

It was in some other country. I can't remember which one now, but I feel like it was a middle eastern country. hmmm I watched it so long ago, but I'm sure someone else on here knows for sure. I remember it was the restaurant's specialty or something. They'd have these little monkeys you could kill, and then eat the brain. shake So wrong.

That was a staged scene - the only scenes in Faces of Death that weren't staged are ones taken from stock footage or documentaries (vietnam footage, things like that). Everything else was faked. The whole film is basically a nastier take on mondo films from the sixties. The notion of restaurants in the middle east or africa providing live monkeys for customers to kill is an myth that mostly came from the FoD movie.

Oh thank God! I remember watching it as a teenager with a bunch of boys and I had to walk out. disbelief

Deep Impact gave me a panic attack.

I think I threw up during Face/Off, but that was because I had the flu.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Seriously though, aside from herky-jerky camera movements, the idea of images in a film actually causing someone to feel physically ill is a totally alien concept to me. Maybe I really am just a cold and unfeeling person, destined to walk this planet forever alone. Woe is me. neutral

Inside secret: We're all alone. wink

Do you ever cry at movies?

hmmm

I had to fight from bursting into tears while watching the movie 'Serenity' the first time. Having been a fan of the 'Firefly' TV series and having grown attached to the characters, to see them being put through what they experienced in the film was almost too much. Joss Whedon has that effect on me.

See? You're normal. lol

I actually am too emotionally affected by movies. I'm very sensitive to everything and emotionally invest in every moment, so I'm constantly weeping and laughing and emoting along with the actors.

There are a lot more disgusting things in there than that. Especially the first encounter after the girl has broken her leg.

But the only that has made me gag was on the show Wild Boyz, with the dudes from Jackass. Steve-O actually drank some old mountain man's tobacco spit. I almost threw up for sure.

i don't know why people get so hung up on that scene when there's far worse in that movie. the chicken fuck scene, the incest blow job, the singing pootyhole, the artificial insemination. the whole movie is just skanky! lol

Divine himself gags... Getting sick = throwing up = digestive function= eating feces

assholes, dead chickens, bj's, don't make me want to hurl, but the thought of eating some liquidy fresh dog shit, makes my stomach frown. In the grooves of your teeth, just the proximity of the smell would make you gag.

i guess that's true, but we all have our own gross-out triggers. like i said, i can't deal with broken bones in movies. or needles. or tracheotomies. that stuff gets me lightheaded to look at. a drag queen eating poop? sure, whatever. bring it on. lol

torture by little things like fingernails, needles, cuts, compound fractures, makes me woozy, but large scale stuff (limbs cut off) usually seems like a special make up effects.

Passion of the Christ was the grossest movie I ever saw. But I didn't puke or anything.

Oh probably the closest I got to passing out was when Johnny Knoxville is getting all the papercuts on JackAss.

Another one I have heard odd stories about is 'I Spit On Your Grave'. Has anyone seen that one?

Yes, I'm guilty of seeing that one as well. It's an extraordinarily tasteless (and poorly made) rape-revenge movie. Pardon the cliche, but it's one of those movies that's so sleazy you will feel like having to shower afterwards.

In the whole rape/revenge genre, I Spit On Your Grave (hard to watch as it is) is actually one of the less sleazy options. Ever see House On The Edge Of The Park or Thriller: A Cruel Picture?

I watched the Faces Of Death movies, and I didn't know most of the scenes were staged. Most of them look pretty real, but then again I was younger when I saw them. I remember the scene with the monkey as well. When then showed the electric chair execution and the eyes popping against the bandages and then bleeding, that was faked as well?

I haven't seen either, though I'm aware of Thriller's reputation. I've heard that it's relatively well-made, which is something I wouldn't say about I Spit...

I sure there are lots of movies that are harsher than I Spit On Your Grave. Rape-revenge isn't a genre renowned for subtlety and craftsmanship. lol

Yes, all staged, including the execution scene. If you google the title you'll find a few sites that document this.

Not that it's something you need to go back and revisit, but if you were ever to watch it again I suspect you'd find most of the scenes don't hold up as appearing too realistic.
