funny this thread comes up today cause just last night i had to turn off Tetsuo: The Iron Man after just twenty minutes...I had just popped in one of them frozen California Fresh Pizza thingies, started up the film and from the start realized this wasn't a film to watch while eating...

i seriously tried not to get upset (repeatedly telling myself i could stomach it) but the visuals in the film just kept going from gross to worst. anyone else see this film? i do intend on finishing it...when im on an empty stomach...

stories about a guy who slowely is turning into a robot (or something like that)...very lynchian.

I tried watching it a year or so back. I didn't make it to the end either...I got exasperated with the jerky camera movements and murky visuals.

but i still liked her in it, what little she was in. shrug

lol Lost in Translation is on tv right now. It's just playing in the background here. I've never seen it. biggrin

Worth the price of admission for the opening scene alone--Scarlett in sheer undies. drool

I'm thinking you won't feel the same way, however. neutral

Another one I have heard odd stories about is 'I Spit On Your Grave'. Has anyone seen that one?

Yes, I'm guilty of seeing that one as well. It's an extraordinarily tasteless (and poorly made) rape-revenge movie. Pardon the cliche, but it's one of those movies that's so sleazy you will feel like having to shower afterwards.

Seriously though, aside from herky-jerky camera movements, the idea of images in a film actually causing someone to feel physically ill is a totally alien concept to me. Maybe I really am just a cold and unfeeling person, destined to walk this planet forever alone. Woe is me. neutral

I've never done that either. I'm too cheap. I'm going to get my money's worth and see a film to the end even if it's pure crapola. I've even suffered through terrible free films in their entirety (like pre-'Mysterious Skin' Gregg Araki) because I feel my time would be wasted even more if I didn't see how the story was resolved. wacky

lol I just go and take 2 minutes and read about the conclusion online. Besides, most of these movies you know how it's going to turn out, anyway, if they're formulaic Hollywood bullshit at least.

I actually paid to see Doom Generation. Only redeeming feature: Rose McGowan. It's still amazing and puzzling to me that someone who made something so worthless could make Mysterious Skin.

It's really puzzling that I agreed to see 'Mysterious Skin' with friends considering I didn't even know Gregg didn't write that movie beforehand (which I'm sure is the reason why it didn't suck). I'm a real masochist. lol

really? i thought that movie was funny. like, on purpose funny. it's the most enjoyable of all the alien movies for me, which i know is blasphemy to a lot of the sci fi heads on here. it felt more like an art film than a blockbuster action movie, almost like a parody of itself but not quite. was there gore in it? i just remember sigorney weaver looked like trent reznor.

falloff

The aliens just looked disgusting to me. disbelief

It was pretty bad. The 1st was great, the 2nd, the return with the military to the outpost, then the 3rd with the prison crew.....I never liked the last one.

anyway, my friend works at the local morgue, so i´ve seen a fair share
of dead people. even accident deaths so i´m used to "gore" so to speak

it isn´t until it is used as screenfiller in actionfilms that it kinda
makes me sick cuz you have a real life reference of the people being
killed in a crash or something. it´s not just 2 seconds on celluloid,
but a whole grieving family and friends etc

but the one movie that made me sick to my stomach was something i´ve
seen a few years ago on tv in the middle of the night. it started out
quite normal so i thougt "great, an italian arthouse film"

disbelief

i wish i´d fallen asleep though cuz at one point there was some guy
setting up a film camera in his garage and he had this victim on a
chair and cut of their hand and then stuffed it in their mouth and
later put it on their head.... amongst other things.

it was just really really disturbing

sad
