Kindergartener Found With Knife At School POSTED: 6:17 am CST December 18, 2006
UPDATED: 6:30 am CST December 18, 2006 PLAINFIELD, Ill. -- The Plainfield School Board will meet Monday night to discuss the case of a kindergarten student accused of threatening another student with a penknife at Charles Reed Elementary School in Joliet. The boy hasn't been in school since the incident occurred nearly two weeks ago. According to state law, he could be expelled for as long as two years, but the board could opt to send him to an alternative school. Principal Joan Woolwine said that on Dec. 5, the boy brought a small penknife to school, opened the knife and used threatening language to another student while holding the open knife. A third student suffered a very minor cut from touching the knife blade. They're starting younger huh??

puh-leeze.
when i was in grade school, my classmates brought knives to school. they had little leather holsters that slipped on to their belts, and nobody thought anything of it. of course, we were less evolved back then in the old timey days, and didn't think to attack each other with our knives. it was more of a boy scout-y, butch macho guy thing. i remember we had little swiss army knife keychains, too. hell, i think *I* even had one of those when i was a kid in school.

When I was in kindergarten, I had a swiss army knife & a secret crush on Maria (Sonia Manzano) from Sesame Street.
When I moved on to the 1st. grade, I was able to use my knife-wielding skills that I accumulated from the previous year & my newly acquired writing ability to carve "Illy & Maria 4ever" on my desk.

Yeah, but like you said, papichulo, that was back in the olden days, when being butchy and macho meant being boy scout-y, not carving up your classmates like a sunday chicken! Its a shame, butit seems like nothings safe anymore, society's sense of innocence is buried, dead, and gone
