Baseball question

Didn't baseball have go on strike a few years ago because the contracts given 2 the players were 2 big and out of control? What's going on with a team paying $50 million dollars just 2 TALK with a player? The Cubs just paid $40 million 2 a player who has a .500 picthing career record. WTH?

I hope baseball goes OUT of business. I see another shut down of baseball coming and it's coming fast.

That's right. People are buying tickets for games in record numbers. Baseball is generating a lot of revenue which is why mediocre players are getting paid so well. No baseball shutdown anytime soon.

Yes, but many teams are so far below the cap, they can afford to throw money away on so-so players.

It's really a soft cap in that if you go over it ($136 million?), you pay a luxury tax depending on how far you go over.
