An Ode to Nurses I wanted to devote a thread to the people in the Nursing profession. Nurses are such an important aspect of health care and I wanted to extend my gratitude and thanks to those who do this job. I am blessed to have 3 grandmothers (1 is step) and they all were nurses.
I had surgery for apendicitis in February and I cannot tell you how much it meant to me to have caring people tending to me during the most horrid physical trauma I've ever been through. I saw one of the nurses just about a month ago in the supermarket and I went over to her and told her how much her care really meant to me. She nearly cried. Thank you nurses all over the world! 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Amen to that. I just came home from the hospital with 24 surgical staples in my skull. The nurses were great, but there was a odd problem. I had ear surgery, but when I pressed the buzzer for help, they talked to me through the intercom... My two ears were bandaged... It makes me laugh now, but I wasn't laughing at first.

Aero, is it too early to ask for an update? I pray that everything went as planned It went very well. I'm not even taking aspirin. My head is swollen on the right side, and I can't hear anything from that ear, but the other is working like before (there was a small risk I would lose hearing on both sides). I won't know how well I will hear before six weeks, when I get switched on.

I agree!
My mom is currently in hospital (thankfully nothing too serious) and the nurses have been a great help.

Why do I always get grumpy, bitter old nurses who hate their job and all patients? I must be going to the wrong hospitals. Nurses are scary. Like clowns! But I'll be nice to them in case I need them to save my sorry ass some day.

Nurses are great!!! And I would find them strangely sexy if my mum wasnt one.
Props and pounds 2 my mum and all the other nursey wursey's doing their important, underpaid jobs!! (round of applause 4 Nursies) "...because no-one gets there alone." - "...I like the floor. It's the only thing that seems real."

The final scene of that film is more than enough 2 give nightmares to any1 who's gonna have surgery involving their skull. "...because no-one gets there alone." - "...I like the floor. Thank god for nurses I say. They have helped many a young man lose his virginity.
(or at least get some) When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

in light of your new thread, bkw, are you referring to the 'head' nurse?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
To all those that posted that their moms are nurses, I was not referring to them of course.
Just nurses under 25. ~*bkw ducks for cover*~ When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

The "Head" nurse sounds promising but usually turns out to be a crusty old biddy. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

To SuperFunky I'd like to say a big THANK YOU!
I am a nurse, I have been for 14 years, starting at the age of 19. There has been many a day when I have gotten so frustrated in dealing with unappreciative folks who can treat us as their personal slave, or just treat us with total disrespect, and I have come close to leaving the profession all together, then someone will say something so wonderful just as you did, that makes me say, I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE! When appreciation is shown it makes you look over the negative people, in this day and age the nursing shortage is tremendous, we are under paid, TOTALLY OVERWORKED, understaffed, and sometimes the pressure makes you want to say FORGET IT! BUT...I believe God guided me in this direction and I LOVE my job, taking care of people, being a shoulder to cry on, being supportive when no one else is there, and calming fears and fragile nerves. Nursing today is a challenge to the max, so many nurses I know have either left the field, or went to work in offices or clinics. I pray that more young men and women will look in to this field, entering with a compassionate heart and loving soul and most important Positivity...shining the light upon everyone he or she touches on a daily basis as I try my best to do each day. and blessings to you all and thank you for the postitvity! Just made my day! feel better, feel good, feel wonderful
