Moderator | All times are approximate Since people have been asking me where I've been and what I've been up to, since I rarely find the time or motivation to spend hours on line,I've decided to share some moments from my day with you all.
7:25am A 11 year old boy comes rolling into the school morning program with a local newspaper under his arm. He's made the cover.... for wearing a homemade button of Hitler Youth in protest of the recently adopted school uniform policy. I read the story, hand him the paper, reassure him I support his first amendment rights but voice my opinion that millions dying at the will of a mad man is not the same thing as spending $17.00 on a collared shirt with the BOED insignia on it. 7:38am I tell a boy named Gabe I want to have him cloned because he is a perfect child. 8:45am I am harrased by a co worker I can actually stand about my choice to not attend the holiday party. He says he really needs the night out. There is a rumor that if 5 more people do not agree to attend and pay for their plate, the party will be canceled. I'm told if the party is called off it's my fault and he will tell everyone it is my fault. I'm told I suck and I am a loser. I do not disagree. 11:05am The co worker I can stand asks me if I'm sure I will not attend the party. I say no, again. He asks me when I'm going to get married to my "life partner". I say his guess is as good as mine. He tells me I suck. I'm starting to wonder why I like this person. 12:35pm After I review a long division( with decimals) problem on the board, my students applaud me. I become suspcious. I ask why they are clapping. They tell me it's because they love me. I don't believe them. 12:36pm- 12:40pm I spend the next few min. trying to casually grope the back of my shirt for kick me signs and/or spit balls. 2:59pm I give my students Christmas finger puppets and pencils because for a few moments my heart is light. 3:15 pm I play shrink to a 5 year old who repeatedly states she hates her life, doesn't want or need any friends, and she just wants to be alone. (A girl after my own heart.)She confesses she says those things because she doesn't think she's smart. I tell her she is. I don't think she believes me. 4:45pm I referee when Gabe tells the five year old she's fat and dumb. I tell him I don't want to clone him anymore. 7:15pm Call Rich, laugh at his Sawyer from Lost impression. I tell him a joke that involves the pope, the seven dwarfs and a penguin. He doesn't laugh. It's not very funny. It's 9:54pm now and I'm exhausted. So.... How was your day? In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

No. He was quoting from season 1 when they are about to kill Ethan when Sawyer says something like " Don't even think of moving jungle boy." In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

Are the kids wired this time of year, getting so close to the holidays? Not yet....but they are getting there. I feel bad because I keep skipping huge sections of the old man's rambles. It's a spoof on academic writing. I get it. But I want the scary parts, ya know? In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

Hi Sweeny! My sister's a teacher too so I know how hard you work. Never in a million years would I want to do your job but I'm glad there are people like you who are willing to put yourselves in the firing line on a daily basis.
