Do you use your creativity?

I have recently started to discover and recover my creativity. I won't go into exactly how or why, I'm just curious to know if you use your creativity, how often do you spend with your creative self and what does creativity mean to you?

Short and long answers welcome.

Yeah, in all the wrong places. I need focus.

Indeed. I create a lot of nothing each and every day. If I could create something ... look out!

My accounting and quarterly reports
have been called creative writing.
Does that count?

Yes, but it's hard to allow myself to do it. I was brought up with the messages that creativity was a waste of time. So now when I try to create there is this constant internal power struggle - it's very frustrating!!! sigh

My job is pretty creative thankfully (making video games)... but in the past whenever I was stuck in a boring uncreative job, I tended to get very sick of it very quickly and move on after a few months. I just can't stand doing stuff that doesn't allow me to use the creative parts of my brain... I'm very impatient.

Probably the master creativity-ologist is Douglas Hofstadter. His books require some heavy lifting, but they definitely get to the core of the issue.

On the lighter side, creativity simply involves changing a lot of variables, combining existing ideas into a new configuration. Let your life experience be your guide and your combinations will reflect your individuality.

I've devoted an entire site to the creative process with my skeletons...one after another, over many moons, I kept looking for some new direction to take them: http://www.skelecosm.com When the going got tough I'd come out with something totally random, and sometimes it would inspire a new direction. Maybe it will inspire you! Enjoy...

Today, I was creative. I started a thread on emoticon poetry that was sadly ignored, like all revolutionary poetry movements.

Creativity.
I use words creatively ALL day. Colleague; "You can milk a sexual innuendo out of ANYTHING, can't you?"
And indeed; yes I can.

But that just stems from working with words ALL my life. Writing songs, stories and these days even internet sites.
I was also busy with a French band but they just seem to be a bit weird, those French musicians...they are like the Dutch in some ways; the talent is there, but they are just too lazy to create something KEWL...
Go ask Aaron, Ian & Carrie what they think of their songs. I am still working on one for my buddy Chris, but that seems to be a hard one to write...
But still working on it, Chris...just you wait.
