I could care less about who my ancesors are. My so-called father was obsessed with doing a family tree and for him to be proud of his ancestors, they must have been the same racist bastards that he is.

Moderator | Some of the resources I use:
http://www.familychronicle.com/ http://www.familysearch.org/ http://www.genhomepage.com/FHC/fhc.html http://genealogy.about.co.../a/fhc.htm Good luck! Remember there will be brick walls you will come up against. And do a family trees takes time. You will need to do a lot of detective work. Some things you can obtain for free. Other things like birth certificates and other documents of your ancestors will cost money. Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! I know pretty much all that there is to know about my families history. My parents have kept wonderful records. However, I am adopted and don't know anything about my biological family history. I would love to find out some info (although I don't really want to talk directly to my biological parents if they're still alive) but I would need to find out their names first of all and it just seems like way too much for me to do right now. Good luck on your search though lilgish! All the other kids would luv2luvya...but you're my little private joy

i started to do some follow-up research the other week ... somebody gave me these online resources:
http://www.rootsweb.com/ http://www.funeralnet.com/ http://www.genealogy.com/index_n.html I also copied the above ones listed ... ... my grandfather did alot of research and i have inherited alot of books, information ..just trying to update it and keep it interesting/accurate... one interesting tidbit is that i am related to johnny chapman- aka johnny appleseed ! lol ... i remember vaguely that i am related to someone else that either signed the declaration of independence or ... constitution or .... (actually that is what prompted my starting to do some research on this ...) what is kinda interesting ... is to see how many people used to die from "simple diseases" ... or "childbirth " ...

I know a couple of people that go to the Mormon church library. You dont have to be mormon to go they keep meticulous family records and have a great deal of data. My mom got way back even to Europe early 1800's. My county touches Alabama I live in Floyd county, Georgia. Don't take life too seriously, noone gets out alive.

my mom hates her mother...she doesn't care about that side. I was interested in this at one point.

It's my new hobby, as of this year. I've gone back to the 1790s.
The sites I use the most are: www.ancestry.co.uk (also www.ancestry.com) www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk (for my Scottish ancestors) http://genforum.genealogy.com/ For anyone interested, www.ancestry.com is giving free passenger list info from 1820 to 1960 for the next couple of weeks apparently. However, the first resource, that got me started, was talking to family because I could draw up a basic family tree from the knowledge they had already. If you're interested in doing this type of research, start asking questions now rather than later - I wish I'd started when my grandparents were still alive as a lot of family history and interesting stories have been lost.
