Does anyone under the age of 50 still engage in racetrack betting?

My new office is across the street from an OTB (Off-Track Betting) site.

All day long I see old men wobbling in there to bet on horses.

I have yet to see anyone with non-gray hair going in there.

Is this a dying vice?

Anyone here ever been to a racetrack?

i have been to the racetrack nearby ... maybe 4 times in 20 yrs ... or so ... i dont have greys ....

i know several other younger people who go .... but they are not BIG betters ....

i would be alot of the OFF TRACK places thrive on older people tho ...

i just loved to watch the horses

had a summer job when i was 17 grooming at DRC

I only ever bet on Horses once.....Won a Fiver.....I knew I shoulda put more on.....


I rarely even do the Lottery now.....The only Gambling I do regular is crossing the street in rush hour.....

My hometown had an OTB, and loads of people of all ages used it.

I've been to a racetrack, and I wasn't impressed. I drink mint julips on Derby Day though.

i have a funny horse track story ... last time i went ... my lil 4/5 yr old girl "dreams " of horses .... so ... we went ... had dinner in the restaurant overlooking the horsetrack ... before the races started ....

as we were finishing .... the horse racing started ...

the second race ... there was a close finish and the one horse i think broke his/her leg....

and i was like .... tryin to pay for the meal and distract my child ... cus i thought they might just shoot it ....

well .. they bring this big "blind out" so u cant see the horse ... and a big horse trailor with the first aid sign on it .... so from the clubhouse u cant really see the horse ... but from where we were ... up higher ... u could see the top of the horse ...

as we are walking out ... my child really wasnt watching ... but my wife was like .... "no , no ... no ... they arent gonna ... no .... not in 2004 .... no ... they wouldnt .... " ....

the waitresses were laughing at her .... and i was like ... :"i think they shoot the horse" ...

well ... maybe they gave the horse a gunshot or ... maybe they just drugged it .... cus all of a sudden ... that horse fell to the ground ....

needless to say ... my lil girl didnt see it ... and .... we never went back to the horsetrack .
