What should I make for a late night snack?!

A Ciabatta Turkey Sandwhich, A bowl of Campbells Clam Chowder, or Leftower Hamburger helper? Help me make the call!

A pickle on the side, not in the sandwhich. But only a sour pickle!

The ones I get are more stuffed though - with a humus paste lining the inside, some shredded lettuce, tomato, grilled chicken, sliced pickle and a sprinkling of chili. They've become so popular in Khao San Road, and there's so much competition, that you can now get 2 for $1.50! woot!

...

Wait, it seems falafels are actually some kind of meatball or something often put in a wrap like that one above. Oh well, not sure what the chicken wrap is called exactly. With the humus (sp?) and sometimes a dressing it has a middle eastern flavour to it.

...

usually falafels are filled with i think lettuce, tomatoes and cheese but instead of meat it chickpeas and something else(can't remember) that is spicy and meatless-its quite tasty nod i havent had one in awhile.

So now they have falafel on Khao San Rd. ? lol

In Thailand, of all places ? Interesting. I ate all kinds of food there but didn´t see falafel. The actual falafel is not the whole pitabread sandwich but the little golfball sized vegetarian "meatballs" inside the pitabread. They´re made of chickpeas and I think a bit of lentil flour but I´m not sure about the latter.
You´re right about the hummus though, sesame paste with chickpea paste....very healthy and nutritious...Prince eats that stuff too, with pita bread..put some lemon juice and olive oil into it for a better taste.

Falafel is from the Palestine / Israel region but over here in Europe there are also other ethinc groups who sell it ( and eat it ), like Turks, Greeks, Egyptians etc. but I think it´s actually Arabic or Jewish food.

There are quite a few Israelis on Khao San, that might be one explanation how falafel went there.
Interesting.

Yep, the stands started popping up about 6 months or so ago. First they'd sell you one for 60 baht, but as more stands started up, they reduced their prices so that now you can get 2 for that price. It's kinda the late night food of choice now for those spilling out of the bars. They don't put the falafel in there, just grilled chicken, lettuce, sometimes tomato and the hummus. There's still a little middle-eastern flavour about it though, from the hummus and another paste or dressing that I think is in there. They're very good. nod
