Game Preview: Seahawks vs. Chiefs

SEAHAWKS at CHIEFS GAME AT A GLANCE
The Seattle Seahawks (4-2) take to the road again this week when they travel to Kansas City to take on their former AFC West nemesis the Chiefs (3-3). Kickoff is set for 10:00 am PT.
Seattle heads into Arrowhead Stadium this week after dropping last week’s game against Minnesota 31-13. It was their first regular-season home loss since December 6, 2004, versus the Cowboys. Kansas City held off the San Diego Chargers 30-27 last week when Chiefs’ kicker Lawrence Tynes split the uprights from 53 yards with six seconds remaining in the game.
This week's game kicks off interconference play for the Seahawks against the AFC West, of which the Seahawks were members from 1977-2001. It's the second time since realignment in 2002 the Seahawks have faced their former division. The Seahawks were 2-2 in 2002 in interconference play against the AFC West, with wins over Kansas City and San Diego.
This will be the 49th all-time meeting between the two teams, with Kansas City holding a 30-18 edge in the series, including a 19-5 mark at Arrowhead Stadium. Seattle has won five of the last eight games played dating to the second game of the 1998 season, including the last two games played in 2001 and 2002 (both in Seattle).
Sunday's game will also be Seattle’s first trip to Arrowhead Stadium since 2001, when the Chiefs came out on top 19-7 on November 25, 2001. Seattle’s last win in Kansas City was November 21, 1999, with a 31-19 final score. That season was head coach Mike Holmgren’s first in Seattle and the Seahawks first win in Kansas City since November 11, 1990.

Date: Sunday, Oct. 29
Kickoff: 10:00 am PT
Record: Seahawks 4-2
Chiefs 3-3
Series: Chiefs lead 30-18

Game Preview: Seattle at Kansas City

NFL.com wire reports

KANSAS CITY (Oct. 25, 2006) -- The Seattle Seahawks won't have their starting quarterback for at least the next three games. The Kansas City Chiefs already know what it's like to rely on an inexperienced backup.

Seneca Wallace makes his first career start for the depleted Seahawks (4-2) when they visit Damon Huard and the Chiefs (3-3).

Wallace saw the most extensive action of his career last week when Matt Hasselbeck suffered a sprained knee ligament in Seattle's 31-13 loss to Minnesota, ending the Seahawks' 12-game home win streak -- including playoffs.

Hasselbeck's injury is the latest setback for the defending NFC champions, who are also without reigning NFL MVP Shaun Alexander (broken foot) and starting receiver Bobby Engram (thyroid condition).

"It's very much a measure of what your team is really like at its core," Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said of the injuries.

The Chiefs, meanwhile, haven't been at full strength since Pro Bowl quarterback Trent Green suffered a severe concussion in the season opener. Green has been cleared to begin team activities, and is hoping to return in mid- to late-November.

Wallace had thrown just 27 passes in his NFL career before going 14 of 25 for 134 yards and two interceptions after taking over for Hasselbeck.

"For the circumstances," Wallace said, "I think I did all right."

Wallace will now go on the road to face a Kansas City defense that allows 180.2 passing yards per game, sixth-best in the NFL.

"I welcome all challenges. This is what my job is," he said.

Maurice Morris has rushed for just 158 yards and no touchdowns as Seattle has lost two of three without Alexander, who might return when the Seahawks host Oakland next.

Engram has missed the last two games because of a thyroid condition known as Graves disease, but also could return against the Raiders.

"We're struggling," Holmgren said. "The problem is we're comparing it with what we did last year, and last year we were so good. ... I still expect us to do a little bit better than what we've done."

Huard has gone 3-2 starting in place of Green, and completed 15 of 27 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns as Kansas City escaped with a 30-27 victory over San Diego at home.

The Chiefs held a 27-13 lead heading into the fourth quarter, but needed a 53-yard field goal from Lawrence Tynes with 6 seconds left to win for the third time in four games. Huard completed all three of his pass attempts for 52 yards on the game's final drive.

Kansas City coach Herman Edwards likes what he sees from Huard, who had six career starts coming into this season, and has warned his team that Wallace will be looking to make a name for himself.

"Last time I checked (Huard) hadn't had a game-winning drive in five years. He's had some now," Edwards said. "(Seattle) will have a plan coming in here with Seneca and I think he's going to surprise people. I think he's a heck of a player. I think when all that happens the team rallies around him and we'd better be ready to play."

The Chiefs will be in good shape if they continue to receive the type of performances running back Larry Johnson and tight end Tony Gonzalez provided last week.

Johnson ran for a season-high 132 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries, and Gonzalez added a season-best 138 receiving yards on six catches after entering with 187 yards in his first five games.

"I'm not the kind of guy who comes to the media saying, 'I'm not getting the ball.' But yeah, it's been frustrating," Gonzalez said. "But at the same time, they're going to start coming to me because they've got to. I've proved in the past that I can do it."

Johnson will be looking to duplicate last week's effort against a Seattle defense that is eighth in the NFL with 92.2 rushing yards allowed per game.

"We need to be consistent on a daily basis," Johnson said. "As long as we do that, we'll be all right."

The Seahawks have won five of the last eight contests in this series, including a 39-32 victory at Seattle in the last meeting on Nov. 24, 2002.

Hey, man. It's been tough, lemme tell ya: Everyone is using the Raiders as a punchline in cruel, cruel jokes about incompetence. I'm just happy they're not going to have a winless season. If they find a way to beat the Steelers, I'll be really happy. My g/f is a big Pittsburgh fan. lol

Seattle Seahawks Qwest for Sex

One explanation for those long line-ups in the ladies' room
Qwest Field is a real turn-on for some, apparently

Listen up, Seahawks: when there's more action going on in the washrooms than on the field? You really have to question your team's ability to keep the fans entertained:

A Thurston County deputy prosecutor was caught Sunday in a women's restroom at Qwest Field having sex. The incident happened during the Seahawks game against the Minnesota Vikings, King County sheriff's Sgt. John Urquhart told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Qwest Field employees alerted off-duty sheriff's deputies working security near Section 138, where they found "a guy in the women's restroom having sex in one of the stalls," Urquhart said.

Clearly hammered, the 39-year-old man was arrested. The 31-year-old woman found with the man, however, was not detained or arrested.

The Seattle Seahawks next home game is a Monday Night Football matchup against the Oakland Raiders on Nov. 6. Anyone caught having sex in the restrooms will be forced to suit up for the Raiders.
