Do you ever think about all the different Net universes you inhabited, the different screen names and personas you took on? Before I became a highly underrated member of the Org, I remember with fondness the following:

1) Paisley Park (1996-1998)- AOL chat room where we talked about Prince. I went under the moniker Former PRN which I thought was clever but was actually pretty stupid. (What,was I a former nurse or something?) I was much beloved and like the king of the park on Sunday nights. It would be like when Norm came into Cheers, everyone shouting "Former" when I logged on. Okay, actually I was underrated and always clawing for respect there too. But one girl liked me enough that she asked me to move to Kansas so there.

2) Alt Showbiz Gossip (1997-2000)- I went under the name MyOwnClone and would break Hollywood gossip stories and scandals and make tribute songs when celebs kicked the bucket. To date that is the only screen name I have ever had that didn't suck.

3) Alt Music Prince- Between that and the Hammer site, that was how I kept abrest of Prince's various moves. And then the Hammer site stopped updating around Emancipation. Bummer.

The other 80% of the time, I was downloading East German porn but I did enjoy hanging out in these places before I discovered my true home, Prince. Org.

Before then, I didn't even bother with the Internet.

i was on freedom webchat before i found the org.

A local electronic music scene site. I still post on it from time to time, but it's beyond boring these days since everyone that was funny, smart or interesting was either banned or left because the site is just awful now.

Various Springsteen message boards (one to which I still contribute occasionally). But most Boss fans tend to be a little on the square side and none of them know how to start a quality thread on face-jizzing.

Although, I had something kinda sorta similar in that I have a group of friends that have been emailing each other all day at work for about 8-9 years now. It's pretty much like the GD, only in email form.

i lurked on the steve hammer site and on AMP before i started lurking on the org and eventually posting. i didn't post until the purple-and-white days, though. i posted a little on AMP up to then, but not a whole lot.

In the mid to late 90s I was always on the AOL Prince message board.

Honestly, when I wasn't reading about Prince online, I usually spent most of my time in the local AOL chat rooms, meeting up with people and turning tricks like it was my job, LOLOL. That was also back when AOL was full of vulnerabilities, and you could create all kinds of mayhem like spoofing screenames, punting users, and such. SubSeven came out around that time too.

I lurked at the Org when it started up. The first few times I actually tried to post on here, I got my head chewed off and spit back at me, so I went back to lurking LOL.

I didn't start posting again till it switched over to version 2. I don't even remember what my username was back then. Eventually I switched over to just "Tom".
