Are you a "fag hag"?

I'm sure you all heard the term "fag hag" which means a straight woman who has lots of gay male friends. It's so funny wherever I go gay guys just start talking to me! Like they have always been so sweet to me. I don't know if they can sense I'm a very open minded, accepting loving person or they like my clothes and can tell I'm such a girly girl. Hahha..

In this book I "Sextrology: The Astrology of Sex and the Sexes" by Starsky+Cox I read something recently that was so funny regarding my sign about this. I'm a Libra and this is what it said about the Libra woman...

"As with Gemini and Pisces women-the zodiac's preeminent fag hags-gay men hold a fascination for Libra; but unlike those other signs, she doesn't look to them for love. Rather, she feels herself to be like one o them. Libra is gender-bending personified: With a man, she's decidedly ungirly, far more like one of his guy friends who just happens to look like a beautiful woman-again a fairly butch gay man trapped in a demure debutante's body."

Hahah..I always knew there was a secret gay man trapped inside of me.. razz . I thought this was funny and wanted to share. If you guys like astrology you should get this book..it's pretty funny!

I just consider them friends. I don't call them "hags". But a LOT of times, they annoy me. Like when I'm at work, it'll be 4 chicks and one gay dude, and they'll come to me and start talking and shit and the whole time they're trying to get me to notice they're desperate gay friend who wouldn't even have looked at me if he wasn't with his bitches. And then you have the guys with like 6 hags and you have to impress them in order to date the dude. I hate that shit. It's annoying.

I am a Fruit Fly, for sure! Honestly, except for 2 of them, every man I've been friends with or romatically interested in have been gay! It became quite depressing until my boyfriend came along. I thought there was something wrong with me, until I figured out that doing drama, choir, and art wasn't the best way to meet straight men! lol People used to ask me "Rani, do think that guy's hot?" If I answered yes, they would say, "Oh, then he must be gay!" I always seemed to chase after gay men too. I guess I'm a gay man trapped in a woman's body.

Yeah, my gaydar (with men and women) works as follows:

Do I think they're hot? If yes, they're queer. lol

I worked with a girl like that. She was complaining to me that her (then) current boyfriend refused to take her out the night before, because he wanted to stay home and watch the Cher special that was on TV. I had to walk out of the room to laugh.

I'm a male "fag hag" (though to be honest, I dislike the term "fag hag" in general). I've always had an easier time making friends with gays than straights. But I hate the IRRITATING AS FUCK kind of "fag hag," where a woman has tons of gay male friends to compensate for her lack of success with straight men. She basically uses gay men to bolster her lack of self-esteem. I've known MANY women like this...and despise them. It's almost a form of homophobia, as far as I'm concerned.

smile Have any of your girlfriends ever gotten jealous/nervous about you hanging out with gay men? I've gotten catty glares from some of my buddies girlfriends when they introduce us to eachother, LOL. I would never do anything to the guy(s), we're just friends, but it's funny watching their women get all paranoid.

No.

I do not actively seek out gay men to befriend. I have a couple of gay/lesbian friends but I never really thought anything of it accept that they were cool people - which has nothing to do with their sexual orientation.

The term gets confused alot. I know a few women who have lots of gay friends, but they didn't become friends with them BECAUSE they were gay. I really hate the term. That's actually why I think "Will and Grace" was such a shitty show. It was a celebration of that whole "fag hag" bullshit.

I'm so over straight women claiming to be fag hags. Ever since Will and Grace it's like we're a novelity item.

there are few true fag hags!!!!

Maragret Cho and Madonna being the most famous.

it's not a title that you can give yourself it is something that is. My former boss before she had her daughter was a fag hag, she talked about gay sex, she went to gay clubs, she had all gay friends, she watched gay movies, she listened to cliched gay music, and presented herself as a gay man in a women's body. most of the other people i've met who claim they are fag hags come no where close to being that.
You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna
