I miss when VHS tapes cost like 90 bucks to buy for new movies. I wanted to buy Graffiti Bridge when it came out and the retail was $89.95. I waited a month and bought it used at Blockbuster for like $9.95. I did not believe the claim that it had been previously viewed though. All good things they say never last...

The first time I rented Purple Rain, I had a beta tape and they rented me a VHS. They didn't catch that at the video store. I was mega-pissed and had to wait a couple more days to see it. All good things they say never last...

I guess. Except some people claim there are advantages to vinyl. What would be the advantage of VHS? VHS I held out for a long time, actually. I thought DVDs would be a passing thing, like 8-track. I thought broadband would make media obsolete. Oh well. I wasn't wrong, just ahead of my time. Now I just use my DVD drive on my laptop and hook it to an external monitor if I want a larger screen. Exactly...I'm waiting to see which format actually takes off before I get any of that stuff. I also want to wait till the bugs are worked out as well.

Remember the ones that had sound? no, but i had a movie version of a viewmaster that played little cartoon loops. it was around the early '80s, cuz i had a "spiderman and his amazing friends" cartridge for it and that stupid "laverne & shirley" cartoon from when they were in the army. there was no sound, though. it was kinda like watching a french nudie loop, only without the pink.

TMPletz said: I had this along with the cartridge for Star Wars. I had a toy television which played these cartridges. It was blue and ran off batteries. It had a prism inside which reflected the image onto an opaque grey screen. I remember it being noisy and only working in the dark. The batteries never lasted very long at all. I loved it but my brother took it apart one day to see how it worked. My favourite cartridge was a Mickey Mouse short called 'Mickey's Trailer'. I liked it because Goofy cooked popcorn and the clicking of the cartridge turning around sounded like the popcorn popping. I also had a Captain America cartridge and a Herbie cartridge. I'm sure I had more cartridges but these are the ones I remember most.
