I miss when VHS tapes cost like 90 bucks to buy for new movies. I wanted to buy Graffiti Bridge when it came out and the retail was $89.95. I waited a month and bought it used at Blockbuster for like $9.95. I did not believe the claim that it had been previously viewed though.

The first time I rented Purple Rain, I had a beta tape and they rented me a VHS. They didn't catch that at the video store. I was mega-pissed and had to wait a couple more days to see it.

I held out for a long time, actually. I thought DVDs would be a passing thing, like 8-track. I thought broadband would make media obsolete.

Oh well. I wasn't wrong, just ahead of my time.

Now I just use my DVD drive on my laptop and hook it to an external monitor if I want a larger screen.

I wonder how much my childhood ViewMasters would go for on ebay.

I still use my VCR too I just bought a Tae-Bo 2 Advanced Work-Out VHS tape for $1. I love Tae-Bo and I have a couple of dvds and the original one on VHS. At $1, I thought I'd just add to my Tae-Bo collection.

I loved it but my brother took it apart one day to see how it worked.

My favourite cartridge was a Mickey Mouse short called 'Mickey's Trailer'. I liked it because Goofy cooked popcorn and the clicking of the cartridge turning around sounded like the popcorn popping.

I also had a Captain America cartridge and a Herbie cartridge. I'm sure I had more cartridges but these are the ones I remember most.

I prefer betamax.
