iPod and album cover-art ----- Help Needed PLEASE

So I have just gotten my hands on a new iPod 30GB device and I'm a happy camper. After I synched the iPod with my iTunes library (about 3000 songs, using only half of the player's capacity) I look at all the features of the iPod that are new to me, since I previously owned an iPod 15GB (second generation, bought it in 2003!).
One of the features is that it enables you to add the album cover-art of the music imported to iTunes. This cover-art will be displayed on the iPod-screen after you've synched it with iTunes.....
This is where the funny stuff happens: eventhough I have my iTunes sorted correctly, meaning all cover-art imported correspondingly with the right artist/album, on my iPod it appears messed up!!!!

For instance: when I play Ryan Adams' 'Cold Roses' on my iPod, the cover-art of A Tribe Called Quest's 'Midnight Marauders' appears on the display..... eek confused sad

I have double-checked my iTunes, and it is sorted correctly.....did another iPod-update, no change.....

Can somebody please help me and tell me what to do or what I am doing wrong???

I know, it is not a big issue, the iPod is working correctly.....but this irritates me, being the geek that I am!

Please?

Exactly. Ive got 2GB which is about 500 songs. Ive got no more space on about 440 songs due to damn album artwork!

There's an option on itunes 7.01 as to whether or not you want to include cover art on your ipod. Make sure it's deselected if the cover art is taking up too much room.

If you do want cover art on your ipod and it's not showing up correctly, try restoring the ipod and re-syncing.
"What kind of fuck ending is that?"

When I add album artwork I make sure it's the smallest file possible. I do a google image search and anything 160x160 and above works fine. I never usually use an image more than 10kb in size. Sometimes you have to search for good quality files but it's worth it. Better than using the iTunes library or Amazon which are these massive pictures that aren't necessary at all.

That just means it doesn't show up on your iPod. The art is still there imbedded inside the files.

You have to select all the songs, go to Get Info and delete the artwork from there.

The new itunes no longer embeds the covers with the id3 tags, for exactly this reason. If you got your covers with previous versions of itunes, then yes you gotta go through Get Info. If you got your covers through itunes 7, they are separate from the files (which has its good and bad points).

You could redownload all your covers through iTunes 7 to replace them and separate them from the individual files, but that can be problematic

The world has been sold a bill of goods on Steve and his iPod.

All Jobs does is take technology created by others that's on the verge of 'happening' and use his money and connections to cop it and re-sell it on a larger scale. He's no more genius than you or I if we had both the money and connections.

The iPod fucks the consumer right up the ass. It plays music in poorer quality than a CD, yet is more expensive than any CD walkman or home CD player; reduces music to generic 'files' which are more costly per song than if they were bought together on a CD and in general dumbs all music down to stock equivalent bytes of information. There's no art to the product - no album artwork (just tiny picture files that take up too much room on the device), no detailed credits or liner notes and nothing to make the event of listening to a record 'special'.

Have you seen the movie "Idiocracy"? This is part of that process.

I remember this argument in 1985 when CD's were ruining the true listening experience of listening to vinyl with their crappy little artwork and inferior sound. You know I actually held out on buying CD's till the early 90's because of that nonsense? Now they're the pinnacle!lol

Look if you know of a CD player that will let me have my entire music collection at my fingertips at all times, let me know. I've got a 60 GB ipod with album covers, photos and videos and it's not even half full. My Bjork collection has lyrics. If I want lyrics for the other songs I can get them. I can also download liner notes and credits (never been into that anyway, but I could).

With the ipod jacked into my car I've got the best car audio system I've ever had. I can pull up my favorite songs with a few clicks. I can pull up my girlfriend's favorite songs with a few clicks.

As far as missing out on the CD experience. Having an ipod and owning cd's are not mutually exclusive. I buy cd's all the time. Which can then be ripped lossless to the ipod to make the music that much more portable. But, if there's only one song I'm interested in, I prefer to have the option to save money by just buying one song.

Yes, it costs more than a CD player to conveniently carry around my entire music collection with me. It's worth it to me since I have actually listened to more music than I ever did before I owned it.

If you don't need that, ok.

Nobody's forcing you to get one.

And if album art and liner notes are that important to you, get it on freaking vinyl.
