Anx said: sallysassalot said: that is some seriously flawed logic. many doctors don't have cancer yet they treat it. when you're in med school you learn about the entire human body. do you think females should only have female practicioners in all aspects of medicine? after all, there are hormones exclusive to females and those hormones create problems which are exclusive to females. the bottom line is a good doctor is a good doctor. [Edited 10/1/06 22:00pm] plus, if this logic is airtight, what happens when you need to take your pet to the doctor? not that i wouldn't ADORE taking my cat to the office of a kitty dressed up as a doctor. how cute would that be? "What kind of fuck ending is that?"

She can't have one. This could go on and on. I've had both and have liked both. Yes, I see what you're saying...it can be a slippery slope with the argument I'm presenting, but I still see that by not being able to be affected by ONE disease (i.e. Sickle Cell) or not being able to experience ONE function of the female body (i.e. child birth) is completely different from actually not having the very body parts (or experencing the functions of those body parts) you're treating on a daily basis. how is that completely different if we're still talking about EXPERIENCE of something. Just because I have a vagina doesn't really make me an expert on it. hell, I've met men who could tell ya everything about it....lol. But like Anx said, should humans treat animals? and like sally said....a good doctor is a good doctor.

oh, and i have no problem with a human doctor treating my cat unless the doctor is, like ted nugent or something and he's gonna end up skinning my poor kitty and eating him. that would suck bad.

and if your female gyno were gay... would that also preclude her from being your doctor??
bottom line it is a very vulnerable moment this thread needs to rest now

This has less to do with who is qualified and more to do with people's issues with dealing with the opposite sex when it comes to things that could be considered sexual, even when it's clearly not the case at all.
That said, people have their reasons for being uncomfortable and that's ok. If one is uncomfortable (whatever their reason may be) it's best that they stick to what they are most comfortable with. There's nothing wrong with that.

bottom line it is a very vulnerable moment this thread needs to rest now I think some women who've dealt with past sexual issues involving men would feel more comfortable with a woman versus a man regardless of her sexual orientation. I kinda get a gay vibe from my new female gyno. I still would choose her over a man. It's just a comfort issue for me. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)
