Who's heard of this? I saw the documentary about it in a sociology class today, and I find it fascinating. You can find it on google video if you just search for stanford prison experiment.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...experiment wikipedia's got a good article about it too, if you don't want to watch the documentary, but i think you should just for the effect of the footage. You can't get the same sense of what happened just reading about it.

Was it completely unethical? Has it been overblown by becoming so famous? I'm really curious to see what others think of it.

It was brilliant. I fully support everything that happened there.

the interview near the end between the prisoner and guard is intense...i find it really interesting how the guard keeps averting his eyes and keeps somewhat of a smile on his face the whole time.

i think the age of the people they selected to participate played a huge role, too. if it had been men 40+, it might've been very different. and what if it had been all women?

I suggest renting Das Experiment. It's a German film made a few years back about this. . . it was fictionalized, but the experiement was the same. Really good movie.

Apparently there's going to be an American-made film called The Experiment coming out in 2008, at least that's what it says on imdb. i hope they don't overly dramatize it.
