the big day is today!

the following pics are from the Project Runway fashion show today during Fashion Week here in NYC. if you do not wish to know what the collections of the final 4 look like, then DO NOT continue reading this thread!

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

from http://bloggingprojectrun...spot.com/:

Laura K. says all of the collections were fabulous. The show was stunning. If I had to pick a favorite (and Scarlett says that I do), of course, I love Laura. Her designs were so elegant; they looked like they were right off the Paris runways. Heidi is going to think that they looked, "very expensive."

We have met so many of our Project Runway designers from all 3 seasons today, but it was especially dear to me to speak with Jeffrey's mother, Pam, before the show. It was very touching to share with her our genuine affection for her son. He is supremely talented and his collection was incredible.

The Scarlett says that it was unreal to be in the tent with so many talented and charismatic people. If I had to pick a favorite, I would say that I loved Laura's collection. It managed to look both timeless and fresh. She took her fabulously glamourous aesthetic to a new level that could translate easily to a younger audience.

Tbone is still stumbling around in a stupor after meeting Chloe Dao this morning. However, he has composed himself enough to say that he felt Jeffrey's collection was his favorite. The first and last looks were stuning. Uli and Laura also had very strong showings. When Nazri walked on the runway, everyone in the tent literally gasped. That girl is FIERCE!

The BPR Team observed that Michael was definitely the crowd's favorite. Heidi Klum is gorgeous and just not of this world. Nina Garcia was luminous and Michael Kors was in his basic black uniform accessorized with signature sunglasses (on a rainy day.)

Michael's collection.

It was an emotional finale this morning inside the tents at Bryant Park as Jeffrey Sebelia, Uli Herzner, Laura Bennett and Michael Knight (in that order) presented their final collections for Project Runway.

We saw many designers from all three seasons and photos are on the way. Heidi on the runway: "Our designers are very nervous, and I am very proud of them." She introduced Fern Mallis as the guest judge. Here were some of the comments from the four finalists:

Jeffrey: "Hi, well this deosn't suck" (laughs) He thanked his family - Melanie, harrison (who was crying), and his Mom. "The inspiration for this collection is a book called 'Japanese Demons and Ghosts''. I only hope you love it as much as I do."

Uli Herzner: "I don't make big speeches, I wasn't the one talking all the time" (laughs). I had a dream that I would show one day at fashion week and it came true"

Laura Bennett: "I wanted to make it BIG in fashion (referring to pregnant belly), and I did!" (Big laughs)

Michael Knight: "I'm so excited, I'm getting the butterflies. My collection is called 'Street Safari'. The inspiration was me (laughs) and it's about my journey on the show of trying to find out who I was. I wanted to design for a sexy, secure, sophisticated GRRROW woman!" Big cheers.

Trivia: we spotted Sophia Coppola and thought she would be the guest judge...both Uli and Michael showed bikinis in their collection...Amanda (with red hair) and Nazri walked for Uli....keep your eye out for the first wave of photos coming soon, it's going to be tough to call the winner from our vantage point.

they always have the top 4 present, it prevents people from knowing who the top 3 are

Okay I rarely post but I had to get this out. I've been to most of the shows at Fashion Week running around like a chicken with my head cut off. But I actually got the chance to really take a break and watch the PR runway show. Overall I have to admit, this is probably the BEST collection I've seen out of all three seasons. I also think that the collections from PR are the BEST from the entire event outside of some the designs I saw from Vera Wang and Calvin Klien.

First: The audience favorites
Uli definitely had the biggest response from the audience followed by Laura, Jeffrey and Mike.

Second: Some of the comments from the side
Some people were saying that Michaels collect was too Baby Phat, too street. Some people used the term "Hootchie" but I disagree. Nevertheless, most of the comments I heard, where very positive. Mostly I heard, that's hot!!!! Wow, sexy!!!!

Some were saying that Laura is stuck in a time machine. However, they loved the "youthfulness" of her designs. I heard a lot of "nice", "chic", "love the 20's look"....

Like I said Uli had the biggest response. Someone made the comment, "Sexy democratic housewife" which had everyone laughing.

Finally Jeffrey. The responses to his collection ranged from "what no rock and roll", to "baby doll meetings Gwen Stafani". The general feeling I got from most of the comments was that Jeffrey's collection was VERY conservative, not edgy...

Third: My personal observations..
I liked all of the collections from PR. To be perfectly honest, the worst design presented was FAR better than some of the sh*t I saw at the over shows. I know they say art and fashion go hand-in-hand, but some of the designs I saw at the other shows from well known designers looked like crap. I don't know what drugs there were on, but it had to be some good sh*t...

With the collections from Michael, Uli, Jeffrey and Laura it’s VERY had to pick a winner. Each collection is representative of different classes of Women. Each of these designers are winners within the market clientele they are trying to reach.

Jeffrey's designs I thought were impressive given what I've seen from him so far in the competition. As much as I do not like him as a person, he does have skills. While not as diverse has I thought it should have been, his collection never the less was wonderful.

Uli, was Uli. I also loved her designs and the fact that she went more neutral was great. However, it was still more of the same. However, I can definitely see some of my friends in her designs (considering most of them are in Miami)...

Michael was definitely in-your-face. His collection was probably the most diverse out of all three. He presented an Urban Safari and it was just that. I think two of his outfits (the orange mini with the exposed top and the long white skirt) were miscues but at the same time I can definitely see some son's girlfriends in something like this. The bathing suits got a standing ovation from me and a few other the other photographers there!!!

Laura has that elegant sophistication that I love about women. I showed women in all their strength's, sensuality and sexuality without going overboard. She did step outside the box, but not outside her comfort zone.

Overall it’s hard to say who gets the boot and who wins. I would love to see Michael or Laura win. Even better would be for the two of them to start their own line of clothing. But it really comes down to what the judges are looking. That unfortunately as we have seen from the judging so far, is anyone’s’ guess…

thank you guys for posting the pictures! biggrin

Laura's kind of all kind of just look like variations on her winning dress to me.

Micheals were nice, but too many short skirts, started to look a bit trashy.

Jeffrey's was very Gwen, unfortunately.

Uli did more "uli dresses" but she definitely kicked them up a notch to look glamourous. I could see many of these being worn at red carpet events.

i actually love all 4 collections. but between them, i think i like it in this order: laura, michael, jeffrey, uli

SPOILER WARNING!

this is just me thinking, it's not absolutely certain, but i am betting laura is not in the final 3.

look at the collections.

what is in 3 of the 4?

bathing suits, which are not in laura's collection (although the one in jeffrey's barely seems like a swimsuit, but that's jeffrey)

they started doing a final challenge for the final 3 last season (the 13th 11th hour peice), and i am betting it is swimsuits.

HOWEVER, the flip side to that that could prove me wrong is there are several swimsuits in michaels, 1 swimsuit in ulis and that thing in jeffrey's could just be a weird jeffrey thing, not a swimsuit, and it is a summer collection, whereas they have previewd fall collections in the past 2 seasons.

I hate that Uli's is my favorite.

I actually liked, pretty much, all their collections.

Good Call,
I would be glad to see Laura booted, and I think the darkhorse of Jeffrey is going to take it.

i really like laura, both person and design, but i think i may be right that she is number 4.

i would be suprised if jeffrey took it. a lot of his stuff i just don't connect with or don't like (that pink baby doll... ugh). the one peice i really love from his, i love despite the fact that it (and a lot of his stuff) is over the top - that shirt thing with the straps. the straps are cool and odd enough, but he also made one side loose, one side tight, which kind of pushed it over the top. had it been the straps or the weird fit, it would have been perfect.

but it was a pretty awesome collection

although, looking at them more, knowing what the judges are looking for, i can guarantee that one thing jeffrey is going to get slammed for is how his collection lacks a cohesiveness. i am trying to find the theme, the unifier, and i can't. it's a very chaotic collection.

ugh, Chris - i really didn't want to look at this, but i just HAD to! lol

i love Michael, but his collection just doesn't appeal to me sad

to me, Uli came out on top - love the gold and silver combinations. Laura's collection looks good, too. i think i might like hers better when i can see how the dresses moved on the runway.

my vote for the final 3 - Uli, Laura and Michael.

yea, i was a bit underwhelmed by michael, especially since he has been so unwaveringly brilliant on the show till now (well, the couture gown wasn't great)
