AIDS Walk Seattle 2006

Today is the second year in a row I walked and it felt sooooo good. Anybody else walk today? Is it the same day nationwide/worldwide? There is so much positivity (no pun intended) surrounding the whole thing, a real sense of community and even the possibilty of knocking HIV/AIDS the fuck out! Hopefully (and I really mean this) there won't be a need for an AIDS Walk next year, but if and when there is, I'm there.

Nope, but I watched it from my window.

For over two years, I'd been participating in clinical trials of possible HIV vaccines. About a week ago, they finally unblinded the studies... turns out I was in the placebo group and getting injections of nothing but salt water. I don't know whether the actual vaccines produced any promising results, but there's another experimental vaccine that researchers are pretty excited about. If (and that's a big "if") it works, an HIV vaccine might be available in about 7 years.
Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position.

I didn't walk in Seattle, but I volunteered for breakdown/clean-up. I got an email afterwards saying that 6,000 people walked, and they raised $750,000. woot!
