I bought a beautiful cat around 14years ago - and named him 'pooky' he lived with me up until around 6years ago when I decided to go abroard to work so - he moved in with my Dad and his partner - my mum had died 5 years earlier but Pooky was a great little companion for my mum - right up until she died - so it was so hard letting him go and on the day I was leaving he sat on my suitcase looking up at me as if to say 'dont go!!' needless to say I cried so much but knew he would be safe in his new home.

6months later I came home - and Pooky barely acknowledged my return (cats are so fickle!!!) but soon got used to having me back and soon started sleeping on my bed and jumping on my lap for a cuddle!

Over the years - Pooky became a great pet for my dads home - everyone adored him - he would follow people around eveywhere purring for attention!! and I knew I had done the right thing by letting him stay with my dad!!

he was so well looked after - that every time I would call up to visit - he didnt even recognise me!!!

Anyhoos - as times got on - Pookys gotten older and recently has started losing alot of weight and not eating
Hes had numerous tests and they cant seem to find whats wrong with him - hes been having injections to get his appitite back but its not working...

Hes taken a turn for the worse today - and it looks like he may be put to sleep on Tuesday if hes no better

I suppose it is for the best - but to me its like the end of an era - also - the last little link to my mum...

Hes given myself and so many people around him alot of joy over the years and I will miss him dearly...

I know hes just a cat but being around for that long - its like losing a member of your family..

I dont know why Ive put this on here - I just wanted to share my story with y'all..

I have another cat which we found under our car 2 years ago - his names Bruno - and I hope he gives me as many happy years as Pooky did...

I am so sorry to hear this- we sure get attached to our animal family. That I know first hand.

Be thankful for the long life pooky has had and all of the love and joy he brought you and your family.

pooky was put to sleep yesterday afternoon - there was nothing more they could do for him

I miss him already..

I'm sorry wendy ... it's very upsetting when you lose a loved one and pets are a part of the family after all.

It sounds like Pooky was a very lucky cat ... he was loved and had a happy life and you all did your best for him, right up to the end.

I hope my kitties live forever.

it is so hard when that happens. Pooky had a great life and lots of love... just what a kitty needs, and im sure he's resting well in the land of mice and cheese in the sky

I cant help thinking about all the quirky habits he had - like I think he was the only kitty in the world who couldnt meow!

He would open his mouth but nothing would come out!
