superman question

how come Superman (the old tv series, at least..) can rip open the door of a car with little effort, but when it came to bending a bar of iron, he was grimacing?

more importantly....

1. if you can stop a speeding locomotive, why the hell wouldn't you crush somebody's hand when you shake it?

2. if he's the man of steel, why does he have love handles?

3. why the hell can't these pulitzer prize journalists recognize supes looks an awful lot like their colleague clar kent without glasses--same height same build, same face, never see them together at the same time disbelief (only the saps who don't recognize that wonder woman is diana prince in a 2-piece walmart bathing suit are worse)
