Fantastic Four Sequel News For my fellow comic geeks, this comes from Marvel.com:
The official movie title of Marvel's first family of superheroes, The Fantastic Four, was recently announced as the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
The cast of the original Four will be returning, with Ioan Gruffudd as Mr. Fantastic, Michael Chiklis as the Thing, Chris Evans as the Human Torch, and Jessica Alba as the Invisible Woman. Keep checking back with us on all the latest news on the next installment of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

I will see it for one, simple reason: Jessica Alba in skintight spandex. 'Nuff said. I was ticked at the way Doom was portrayed. He's Marvel's top villain, and they screwed up his character. The movie was poorly written - strictly for the MTV crowd. | |

Doom should be a Darth Vader level villian, but instead he was portrayed as Green Goblin Lite (the whole subplot involving his corporation was just a rehash of the Osbourne Industries subplot from Spider-Man). A shame, because the FF have tons of potential for a big screen, effects laden extravaganza. On the plus side, they did get the relationship between Ben & Johnny right (and Johnny was DEAD ON to his comic counterpart). Oh, and Jessica Alba wore skintight spandex. Hopefully, we'll get Galactus in this film, in all his world-devouring glory.

In the comics, Doom is a brilliant, tortured, malevolent eastern European dictator - the flip side of Reed. That's how he should have been in the movie, instead of some evil Donald Trump. I HATE IT when these suits re-write the characters. There's no need to - the source material is already there for you! Only a few "get it"(Sam Raimi, Chris Nolan, Josh Whedon, Robert Rodriguez, etc.) [Edited 8/23/06 7:51am] | |
