Developing story
Suspect in JonBenet Ramsey murder is arrested
Man was already being held in Thailand on unrelated sex charges

BOULDER, Colo. // A man arrested in Thailand is being held in connection with the slaying nearly a decade ago of 6-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey, U.S. officials said today.

Colorado authorities scheduled a news conference on Thursday to discuss the case, but declined further comment.

Federal officials familiar with the case, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the man was already being held in Bangkok on unrelated sex charges. CBS reported that the suspect, a 41-year-old second-grade teacher, will be brought back to the United States this weekend.

The girl was found beaten and strangled in the basement of the family's home in Boulder, Colo., on Dec. 26, 1996.

Law enforcement officials from Boulder were flying to Bangkok to present Thai authorities with documents in the slaying, officials in Washington said. They asked to remain anonymous pending an announcement in Colorado.

KUSA-TV of Denver, citing no sources, reported that the suspect has confessed to certain elements of the crime.

Officials in the Boulder County district attorney's office had no immediate comment. Nor did local police and sheriff's officials.

The girl's parents, Patsy and John Ramsey, had been under an "umbrella of suspicion" in JonBenet's death. The Ramseys said an intruder killed their daughter. A grand jury investigation in Boulder ended with no indictments, and no arrests had been made in the case.

Patsy Ramsey died in June.

In 2003, U.S. District Judge Julie Carnes in Atlanta concluded that the evidence she reviewed suggested an intruder killed JonBenet. That opinion came with the judge's decision to dismiss a libel and slander lawsuit against the Ramseys by a freelance journalist, whom the Ramseys had named as a suspect in their daughter's murder. The Boulder district attorney at the time said she agreed with Carnes' declaration.

Associated Press writer Suzanne Gamboa in Washington contributed to this article.

I had no idea that the mother died...I knew that she had a form of cancer.

Bullshit...she had something to do with it. The father is a rock, but I
thought she would have broke down with a confession on her deathbed. hmm

I read the book, bitches....her handwriting style was all over that letter.

Statement from father of JonBenet Ramsey By The Associated Press
2 hours, 56 minutes ago

Text of a statement from John Ramsey, the father of JonBenet Ramsey, released Wednesday after authorities confirmed the arrest of a suspect in the girl's slaying:

"I want to have only very limited comment on today's arrest because I feel it is extremely important to not only let the justice system operate to its conclusion in an orderly manner, but also to avoid feeding the type of media speculation that my wife and I were subjected to for so many years.

"I do want to say, however, that the investigation of the individual arrested today in connection with JonBenet's death was discussed with Patsy and me by the Boulder district attorney's office prior to Patsy's death in June. So Patsy was aware that authorities were close to making an arrest in the case and had she lived to see this day, would no doubt have been as pleased as I am with today's development almost 10 years after our daughter's murder. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude for the efforts of Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy and the members of her investigative team."

Amazing. I still don't know if the parents had anything to do with the murder but with this new development, I hope that the truth finally comes out. If this dude did it, I hope they give the asshole the death penalty.

You read what book? In the court documents, it states that her handwriting samples were a 5% match. This is, essentially, like saying that the writer of the note and Ramsey made their "a"s the same way. The handwriting turned up less than 1% of a match to anyone else in the family.

I saw a documentary a few years ago that pointed out a few details that many people didn't know:

First off, there was a small window to the basement that was easily accessible from the outside. Police originally stated that no one could have entered from this route, since a spider web was over it. This particular type of spider can weave a web within a couple of hours, so the web was hardly proof that no one had entered that way.

The basement, where JonBenet was found, had a section that was walled off, with a door. When the door was closed, very little sound could be heard directly outside. NO sound could be heard upstairs.

JonBenet's room was on the opposite side of the house, and it was entirely conceivable that she had a hand placed over her mouth, essentially making it impossible for someone in a deep sleep to hear her.

DNA collected from the scene, including under JonBenet's nails, her underwear and on her body, did not match anyone in the family.

The boot prints found in the basement did not match any of the shoes found in the home, nor were they the same size as anyone living there.

Until this special, I had thought someone in the family was the killer. After seeing this, it became apparent that the police had just completely botched their job. They fixated on the Ramsey's, primarily due to the fact that they involved their daughter in creepy pagents. There is definitely something twisted to the fact that they dressed their daughter up like a cheap hooker, but this hardly makes them murderers. It hardly surprises me that some sicko pedophile fixated on her.

A Mother Gone Bad, by Dr Andrew Hodges
He not only breaks down the physical written characteristics, but delves into psycholinguistics, deciphering hidden meanings behind the words, all stemming from Patsy's fragile mindset.

Some scenerio's from the book have the father molesting the child for years with Patsy just having found out that Christmas night, possibly catching him in the act. In an outrage, she knocked Jonbenet unconscience with a blunt force hit. It also goes into her mindset from having had ovarian cancer, how maybe she thought that she didn't want to leave her only daughter alone in this world when she passed away (especially if she knew Jonbenet was being molested).

Or that the cancer made her feel like "less" than a woman and seeing that Jonbenet was "replacing" her in her husband's eyes brought about an over-the-top reaction, which may have lead to Jonbenet's death.

It's an interesting read, and has me thoroughly convinced that the parents were behind the death...

I'm happy that they FINALLY found and arrested Jon Benet's killer, but I'm sad that her mom Patsy was not still alive to see it. It's sad that so many people blamed Patsy for Jon Benet's death, and it would be nice if Patsy would be able to still be around to tell the false accusers, "See I told you it wasn't me who did it!"
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

So, what I wrote didn't sway you a bit huh? wink
This "arrest" won't hold any water...he's a loonatic. The holes are starting to appear in his 'confession' as we speak. The parents are behind it, I tell ya.

Actually, I didn't even read what you wrote. giggle Yes, they are questioning his confession right now. Only time will tell if what he's saying is true or not. Hopefully the parents weren't involved. sad

That's all speculation by some psychiatrist out to make a buck. The fact that the DNA on JonBenet was from someone outside of the family is the biggest piece of evidence that it wasn't her parents who killed her. The police botched the job by focusing on the parents, and releasing their speculation to the media, when DNA said otherwise.

I don't know if this guy is her killer, but I'm convinced it wasn't any member of the Ramsey family. Hard evidence points away from them.
