Book tip The best book I've read in 5 years:
'The wind-up bird chronicle' by the Japanese writer Haruki Murakami. Anyone else who's read it? If not, you better start reading.

It's starting to elicit very strong opinions from people. I think with enough poking and prodding, I can probably get someone to start crying.

Wow. If I read 5 a month that's extraordinary. I shoot for four a month.

Really? That's amazing! Are you a writer by any chance?

No. I tried to write several books, I have good subjects, but I'm not good at telling stories. Maybe one day...

I repeat once more...read this book.
It's one of the first books that make me say...'if you don't like it, go see a doctor' The English translation is excellent by the way.

Wow. If I read 5 a month that's extraordinary. I shoot for four a month. i read very slowly. i'm always afraid of missing the meaning of what i'm reading, so i'm very meditatey about writing/writers i like. it takes me forever to get through a book i'm really enjoying.

The only thing I didn't like too much about the book is the fact that as a reader, you really feel this book was constructed in parts. In the beginning I had great respect for the masterplan I thought the author was handling when writing this book, but as I continued, I felt more and more this book was divided in chapters. The end was indeed somewhat disappointing, but I can't see how an end to such a marvelous book can be not disappointing.
