Hey Guys! Give up Your Seat for Pregnant Ladies!

http://www.nydailynews.co...9016c.html

I have to admit, there are times when I don't. After a long day of work and working out, I'm exhausted and not exactly in a nice mood. I just sit down and zone out until I get home.

actually, to be honest, when i'm on the train i always stand. when i'm on the bus, if i can't have a one-seater, i stand. i don't like sitting next to people if i can help it, i get creeped out easily in that situation. and if a prego lady wants my one-seater, well, that's a shame. lol

The vast majority of the time I'm willing to give up my seat to just about anyone who looks like they need it more than I do. But sometimes I'm dead tired and my feet hurt too. So too bad. hmph!

Same here. What pisses me off are the loudmouths who scold you for not getting up. I'm like, STFU, do yourself a favor and walk on.

one of these days they're going to get all sanctimonious and find that the person they're berating has an "invisible" disability or condition. i remember when i was sick earlier this year, being on the bus with a 104 degree temperature (cuz i couldn't afford a cab to the doctor) and wishing someone WOULD get after me for not giving up my seat to an old person or a pregnant person. i was ready to cough on them and give them cooties.

Personally, I think folks should always give up their seats to anyone with a disability, special condition (like pregnancy), or if they are elderly.

lol

Like when someone says 'Cheer up! It might never happen'. Next time I'm gonna say 'My gran just died' neutral and see how they like it. giggle

The other month, some engineer came round my house to inspect our gas meter. I was off sick at the time. I was coughing my lungs up and the cheeky git said "You wanna give up the fags, mate". I was, like. "It's my asthma".

Engineer's response? ----> confused

lol

I will give up my seat for old people and handicapped people but that's it. They can't help their situation. But those women chose to get pregnant. You don't know how many times i have been on the bus and there are women who are obviously expecting men to give up their seat for them. Give me a break. It's 2006. Women want equality? Then stand.

I certainly do. Many a young women give up their seats for elderly men. Many an able-bodied woman gives up her seat for a disabled man. The idea is to give the seats to those who may need it most. Pregnant women certainly fall into this category, particularly those several months along.

That's not what we were talking about.

But while we're onthe subject, I agree there's no reason to, and I wouldn't hold it against a guy who didn't.
But those who do get extra points. smile
It's not an expectation, but it's a nice bonus. That little extra nicety that gets you noticed.

I always though this was just common courtesy, like holding the door open for people. It's not hard to do, I don't see the problem.

I don't like all these old fashioned traditions that just go one way. Giving the seat to the woman, holding the door for the woman, asking the woman out, etc,.
