whatever materazzi said, zidane lost his temper. he should have known he was trying to provoke him and ignored it. of course if materazzi did call him a dirty terrorist then fifa is going to take some action against him, due to their anti-racism policies.

it sure was a shock to see though. sad that such an amazing world player would end his international career like that.

I don't think he really cares. They can suspend him for an entire season and it still would be worth it. What I don't get is if what Materazzi said was that bad, then why head butt the guy on the chest? lol

Either way I don't see what the fuss is. It's not the first time Zizou flipped out, but it sure was his last (on the pitch). evillol

Well, the ukraine switz game was very dull, and the penalty shootout was bizarre, as i think the switz didn't score any goals eek Even England got 3 (was it 3?)

And the portugal Holland game was, as i keep saying, one of the oddest world cup games i'll remember. Such a dirty game LOL

i read that this kind of thing is something the italian defenders do regularly to try to provoke the players and get them sent off.

nod All. The. Time. That's one of the reasons why I would never root for the Italians. They're sneaky, half-cheating, vain momma's boys that have the nerve to be arrogant too.

Zidane said:

"I don't want to attack anyone but I want to defend myself. I did something wrong and I was punished for that. I ended up alone in the changing rooms. But I was the one who was provoked and I reacted. It is always the one who reacts who is punished, never the one who provokes and this is not fair,"

My sentiments exactly.

One theory which i read in my local newspaper is that Zidane said something like "If you want my shirt you can get it after in my changing room" and then the Italian guy said something like "I'd rather have the shirt off your wife". I was like falloff

hmmm...most of the other theories and lip readers point to something far worse.
