Jeans, t-shirts, my usual boots and I NEVER keep my hair on a ponytail.
When I work that is. But that's the one good side for doing audio production work, nobody's going to tell you to "get rid off that hair faggot!"

Specifically, I work in target technology services (Target HQ is in Mpls) and the dress code is the same throughout all of our headquarters offices. They went all dress codey about 2 years ago. I sorta get it, but it pisses me off nonetheless. You'd look cute in whatever the hell you were talking about that you have to wear to work. I didn't read the earlier post.

Black jeans, black boots and depending on the weather, black t-shirts, black shirts or black sweaters. My company makes allowances for my gothness.

It depends on the location.
If I'm actually physically on location I dress for the weather. Tropical locales require simple tanks w/ khakis or breezy skirts usually with a swimsuit thingie underneath if I have to work near water. Otherwise if I'm working on a location I have a tendency to dress like Christiane Amanpour ; crisp shirt with cargos and comfy shoes in case I have to sprint- sneakers on rough terrain, otherwise simple leather Italian driving loafers. On my pants I have to have lots of pockets to stick supplies, polaroids, random film , and I also wear an apron thingy to hold all sorts of doo dads. If I'm in a cold location, then naturally I dress for that weather, and when I'm working in studio, I clean myself up a bit and wear normal clothes and cute shoes (but I keep a pair of cotton slippers available so I won't destroy the white paint on the studio floor). The only time I have to dress up is when I drop by the office of my rep (it's in a pretentious gallery space and it's one of the few times you'll see me in full make-up overdressed to the nines), otherwise, if I have to work from home doing paper and production work on my computer, I am perfectly content to wear my bathrobe or muu-muu of choice while I fax, email, take conference calls, etc all day long. If I'm having a "production" day, I don't even think of getting dressed until I'm absolutely sure I have to leave the house for something. I'll get up and shower early, but throw on a fresh caftan or a cute sweatsuit to get through the day. No real clothes. And in the past couple of years I've also taken up the odd habit of wearing animal house shoes, tiaras, or rabbit ears when I have to work in my home office (obviously not at my agency)---as I like the look on people's faces when couriers or casual business acquaintances (who know me very well) have to pop by:

I practically wear clothes that look like casual sleep clothes/pajamas. I love wearing sweater clogs (Steve Madden), that most people think are slippers. So be it... I am always comfortable.
I would quit if I have to wear stuffy business clothes.

Dress casual.
My job is kind of status-obsessed, so we usually try to compete with each other in the lunchroom.

Everyone has such cool non dress codes! and cool jobs, I bet
I wear a suit or smart separates. And almost always a button down shirt, not a "top". I really want more suits though, I keep seeing women who's suits obviously cost more than mine!

Well, when I still had a job here (before I quit) I had to wear an impeccable dark suit with a perfectly tied tie...and sneakers! That's what they wear indoors over here. It's only when they go out that they put on their dressy shoes.

We got stuff from out marketing department's 'prop shop' and all wore the target branded stuff. It was actually kinda fun. But for everyday wear, no that dress in particular would only be allowed if you wore a cardigan or jacket over it. No sleeveless thing allowed. |

we have a fairly specific dress code. it's honestly pages long. suffice to say: suits are always preferred. men must wear a jacket or tie at all times. women can get away with a button down shirt and dress pants, but that's about as casual as you can take it. clean, pressed jeans with no tears or holes are allowed on fridays. t shirts or sweatshirts are fine on fridays, but cannot have any writing, advertising or graphics on them bigger than say a tiny little brand icon smaller than your thumb. no flip-flops or 'beach' shoes at any time. Are you an editor for Vogue? What the hell? Saw 'The Devil Wears Prada' this weekend and was totally reminded about this thread.
