our DEPENDENCE on COMPUTERS!!! It's so friggin' annoying... you get used to going where you want on the web INSTANTLY, now now NOW!!! & the minute it breaks down or acts up you're just All I want is 2 bloody songs from ITunes - one I can find without problem, another is a Billy Joel song I heard in a store & so have to look it up. At first the store wouldn't launch at all, then it launched but I can't listen to the song samples Which means I can't find the frickin song... And I'm annoyed... I won't just give up & go to bed, I keep thinking the fucker is gonna kick in any second Life was pretty smooth without a personal computer. You had to call to communicate, the mail took forever & everything was just fine. DAMN YOU instant gratification!!!

DAMN YOU instant gratification!!! it is true, we depend so much on them now, even with their benefits, it has changed our attitudes and our patience. what are the lyrics to the song? maybe I know what it is. Also, just as an aside, due to the computer and technological revolution, we spend less time sharing with people in day to day relationships. People have less friends that they know and see, and share more with people they don't know, and may never meet. you didn't ask for all that, but hey

I can't depend on a computer for music, that's for sure. That's why I still buy albums.

mmmmhph...
With a cable modem you are always attached. With a little bit of computer knowledge, they don't break... I'm not dependent, I can stop any time I like. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

Man, I was in the grocery store @ MIDNIGHT, heard the Janet song & thought, "Oh yea, I don't have that one!" Then the Billy Joel came on minutes later. No need to spend on a whole album for a mere 2 songs... ITunes RAWKS!!! when it's working

Figured out the problem (after about 30 minutes worth of customer service calls)... my router is fucking up
So I got a tacky as wire running across my floor to connect the modem directly to the computer. The good news is ITunes is fine & I d/l'd my songs! The Billy Joel one is "Vienna" - is that whole "Stranger" album worth getting? Will I get hit w/ a brick for asking? And Janet can make a hellof a workout song

I liked the days when being into computers meant confining yourself into a dark room for the weekend and trying to make the autoexec.bat to work with your new 1-colour matrix printer, but you couldn't do it because your PC couldn't support peripheral drivers that would clog up the whopping 512kb of memory.
It's too easy now. | |

When I was a child. I loved photography, and videographer, and audio manipulation among many other things. I use to get very upset that I would need hundreds of thousands of dollars to achieve the conditions set forth within my own mind when dealing with these medums. Computers leveled the field by making manipulation of such medums easy and incredably inexpenisve. The Computer is well worth our dependence upon it, but I don't agree that dependence is the case.
