Why do exotic fruit have to be so damn expensive over here? If I'd buy a kilo of those I couldn't afford paying my rent next month. Seriously, they're worth more than gold here.

i know what you mean. over here even simple fruit is rediculously expensive sometimes. yesterday i went out and got: 4 zespri yellow kiwis 4 bananas 4 apples 1 net of oranges total price: $ 12,- i mean damnit, i can get an entire bag full of crappy food for that and eat junkfood every night all week. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Fruit isn't quite that expensive here (obviosuly), but overall it's much much cheaper to eat badly than it is to eat healthy here. It's ridiculous. |

Although my regular local grocery store generally carries mangos and papyas and star fruit and some other 'fun' stuff. Thanks, Carrie...there is a Trader Joe's nearby.

Most fruit is really cheap here.
You can buy 10 limes here for under 50 cents, so we make fresh lime juice all the time. Some fruit is more expensive though, like strawberries, cherries and large oranges, but pineapples and coconuts cost nothing compared to back in the UK.
