Ok, muthafuckas listen up! I am a HUGE MUSICHEAD, but it seems to me too many of you lazy ass BET, MTV, AMERICAN IDOL, MAKING THE BAND driven, so called ambitious "NEXT BIG THINGS" in the making are all totally consumed with making beats!!!

Don't you know that for all your energy put into an industry that just chews people up everyday and guises that YOU are the next "AMERICAN I-DON'T GIVE A FUCKS" or Beatmakers??? I wish I could walk up on BET and tear their white heads off for creating all this bullshit! Not too mention all the music industry executives for inundating all major media outlets with this bullshit brand of music and creating the full blown misconception that there is a pot of gold out there for everyone who is too lazy to get an education or expend a few more braincells on a career or profession or entrepreneurial pursuits!!!

If I hear another mutha tell me "I make beats", and then they can't tell me who they are actually supplying or WORKING for; I swear I am gonna slap 'em!!

Now, some.....SOME of you beat creators may have talent, but please be realistic with yourselves in this...PLEASE!! You know what, FUCK IT, keep making beats! Just don't tell me you are doing it, or DUCK!

Tell me you are in school about to graduate and go to college. Tell me you are in college about to graduate and get into your field of study.
Tell me you are in your field of study and about to go to Grad school.
Tell me you are in Grad school, working in your field and about to take it to the next level.
Tell me you are in/pursuing/developing/administering/loving a trade or career....fucking beat creators!!!

I'm in school for it though. I take Audio Engineering (learn the ropes of audio equipment, how to mic up instruments/mics, ect.) , MIDI (learn how to make the music), Music Industry (Only class that’s not hands on, learn the tricks and trades about the industry) and Music Fundamentals (learn the basics on piano/drums/bass ect.) / Studio Orchestra (get in a room/studio and just jam.).

Not sure how to reply to the topic. I get the "I make beats" thingy...but mostly push that over to hip-hop which, IMHO is just beats with rapping and not much else. Maybe...maybe a small sample or sound put over it. Nothing too interesting. Not ALL hip hop is like this...but a lot of it is.

In terms of electronic music (which pretty much covers most pop and dance music) I don't consider it all "beats". Although most of it is made by a computer and software and maybe some analog instruments. Some of it is good and some is bad...some is extremely good and thusly there is a lot of DRECK as well. It depends on who is putting it together...and the reason behind putting music together will normally define how good it is. If it's all about the producer and money...usually the music is bland and mainstream.

Now I make music and use a computer and programs and such as my palates for making the music I make. I haven't quit my job to go persuing this or anything of the sort. I feel that the music I create has soul and depth. But it is electronic and is pretty much made digitally.

I find it hard to knock folks that are doing music. Times have changed and it makes it more easier to make music. If it's good, it's good. It doesn't matter how it is made or what kind of training lies behind the song. It's not easy to make music...let alone good music.

if we're employed full-time and record music at home for a hobby is that okay?

Whatever. I'm going to go make some IDM beats and smoke some grass now. (I just got my welfare check, btw)
