![]() Actually Star Fruit with Cheese on Crakers is a nice combo but are you supposed to peel that? i mean, if you take the peel off there isn't much left anymore. but with peel i don't like it. it's the way they serve it in restaurants as a garnish and it always has me wondering wether to eat or not to eat the peel. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I only recently tried them for the first time a few weeks ago. They are oh so yummy. And my new favorite bedtime snack. What's your favorite exotic fruit? i know the seed looks weird, but the texture of the fruit is similar to a grape. it's sweet and tasty! i want to learn how to cook asian dishes with them; in springtime over here they're only like, $3 a pound!

I've eaten it. Once cut into stars the peel is easily removed...it's quite thin. Christian Zombie Vampires

Do they have the "WILD OATS" or "WHOLE FOODS MARKET" chain near you in Cali? You should be able to at least find the lychees, starfruit, and prickly pears there. Granted, they want to charge you a million dollars for one star fruit, and $50,000 per lychee, but, if you ever felt adventurous...

::trying to get imago's balls out of my head as I type:: Asian food market...is that right??... I got my lychees at Trader Joe's and they were $3.99 for a pound. You can usually get more fun fruit at co-ops too. Although my regular local grocery store generally carries mangos and papyas and star fruit and some other 'fun' stuff. [Edited 6/22/06 13:11pm] |

Has anybody ever tried Ugli Fruit? I've seen it in the store and have oftened wondered what it tastes like.
Well, it lives up to its name, it is pretty ugly looking. Description: This citrus has an uneven, green to orange bumpy, loose rind that is not really attractive, hence it’s name Ugli™ or unique fruit. It has a yellow-orange flesh with a sweet flavor and few seeds. It’s a hybrid of tangerine and grapefruit. Usage: Enjoy and use as you would common grapefruit. Selection/storage: Select fruit that feels heavy for its size; refrigerate up to 1 month. I fruit of any kind; I think the only kind I'm not too crazy about are pears. Never liked the grainy texture. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I had to look up the English names. I didn't even know the Thai names of most of them. There are so many different fruits at the market, more than shown here. One of the best things about Thailand actually. Yummy!
