car question

besides running out of gas, if you press on the gas pedal and the car does not rev up, what could this be?

Make sure it's not the clutch.

It could be as simple as the link to the fule injection, or caberator, has become unattached. I wouldn't listen to "not the clutch" unless by "rev up" you mean drive. Because even an engine with no clutch attached would rev up if you step on the gas pedal.

You step on the gas pedal and what happens?

Well this did happen when I went to shift. And it seemed OK until I put the clutch in to shift but even when I let the clutch up, it didn't rev up when I put the gas. I'm hoping it makes it the mile to the mechanic lol Of all times, right now is the worst time for car trouble. I'm supposed to go on vacation! mad

Well it didn't respond for a few minutes with the clutch engaged/non engaged. I turned the car off and looked under the hood, but I have no idea what the fuck I'm even looking for lol When I started the car back up, I was able to drive it to park it. I wish it was as simple as I ran out of gas but I have seen the needle lower than it is now so I don't think that's it. I am nearing empty tho.

oh oh oh... if it's really hot sometimes you get a vacuum effect in the gas tank when it gets low... you just have to go open the tank to fix it. if you hear a swoosh then you know you had a vacuum and the engine just wasn't able to get any gas

the link/carberator thing. Is that something I can see by looking under the hood or would that be under the car? I know the carb is in the engine but the fuel injection thing I'm not sure.

I managed to snap the accelerator cable that connects to the pedal once. The pedal had no pressure at all and no revs whatsoever.
I had to drive home using the choke lol Thank god it was a manual choke woot!

a car would have a carberator OR a fuel injection device. Both sit on top of the engine. The linkage connects to the device on top of the engine and it also connects inside/underside where the gas pedal is.

I love how those of us who don't know shit about cars still feel the need to look under the hood. Like, "oh, maybe it's a pack of rabid gerbils mussing things up in there! Perhaps I can shoo them away!"

There is a good chance it is this, or a sticky/bad airflow sensor
