I'm looking to get a laptop.. and I'm not really concerned on getting the best of the best.. but I do want a current laptop, with wireless, a nice size memory, and a decent processer.
I wanna find a good priced one on the internet.. suggestions on best place? I know of Tigerdirect.com and thats pretty helpful.. wondering if some other places would have some good deals.. I'm looking to spend between 250 and 500.. i'm assuming it will be close to the 500 now a days for a decent one..

I just got a Dell B130 for my wife about a month ago. It's not the most powewrful thing in the world, but it'll do what she needs it for, like Microsoft Office programs, internet usage, and other programs that aren't processor power hungry. 512MB of RAM, a 1.4GB Celeron processor, and a 40 GB hard drive. Normally, I steer clear of Celerons, but in this case it's just fine. It cost me right around $500 including shipping and handling. Not too bad.

when I got mine I steered clear of a celeron processor and opted for a pentium one. I was going to hold out for one as well, but there's no way she's going to tax the system surfing the web or writing e-mails. Now if I was to play MY games on it, well....that's a different story. I have four other computers in the house to play games on, though.

In addition to checking out the usual stuff like memory, internal wireless cards, video cards, etc... you might want to also check on the weight of the system and the resolution of the screen. I bought a Dell laptop a couple years ago, spent about $1200 and hated it because it was too heavy to cary arround and place on my lap (it was 13 lbs), and the screen resolution would not go above 1024px x 768px, which made all my programs cramped on the screen.
I bought a Dell Inspiron 1300 earlier this year to have as a spare computer and for travelling, and it's been great. The system is light, and it's got a wide screen with a good resolution. The color is a little bit dull and flat, but since it's not my main work computer, thats fine.
