We got home intime to see the last 3 minutes plus Katherine Dunham died on Sunday [Edited 5/23/06 7:08am] We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Smells like a decomcrat fund raiser to me. “In order to maintain an untenable position, you have to be actively ignorant, ... One motto on the show is, 'Keep your facts, I'm going with the truth.'”

As much as I do not like Oprah, I did watch the program. What got me tearing up was Mary J. Blige who came off as the most real sincere celebrity I have ever seen. I also dug the fact that the Legends made me appreciate myself more as a strong black woman.

Loved the show. Had me in tears. I even watched the Gospel Brunch portion this morning while getting ready for work and it lifted me. I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

Though I'm not black or a women....I sure felt like one when this was all over! It was a great hour and shouldve been longer....the Sunday gospel concert was the highlight...one diva after another took the mic and blew the roof off that tent! I love Oprah like crazy and only she could pull this off...it was moving to see Rosa Parks and Coretta Scott King were alive long enough to be part of that celebration. The poem killed me too! peace Every minute of last night is on my face today....

I won't poo poo the event 'cause I loved it. I would have like to see india.arie Jill Scott and Erika Badu included in the youngin's. I did appreciate that some youngin's were not included in the mix
I hope that she makes the whole event available on DVD along with a coffe table style book featuring all of (what must be simply) amazing photos. That would make an amazing gift and could be a huge thing to earn money for her angel network (not that it needs more money LOL) [Edited 5/23/06 10:57am]

I watched the second half of it after a friend of mine called me to ask if I was watching. I had forgotten about it since it was moved up a week because of Dubya's speech. I thought it was wonderful. I hope that it airs again.

um, where IN THE HELL was Whitney?
Dionne Warwick is her Aunt. JUST SAY NO kids. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I just cracked up. She was joking of course. And Ivy, you know it really did make me look at myself as a black woman and I really had to admire the fact that these women put up with more crap than I ever have. I thought something that Diane Sawyer said was interesting. She said as she listened to the poem, she thought it was meanful but she could tell that it was so true and heartfelt for the women (I'm paraphrasing). Oprah out did herself with this one. Hate her or love her, this was a beautiful thing to do.

It all looks very opulent. You know you have money when you can call your house something horribly ostentatious like 'Promised Land'. I need a job.
