It's a chinese movie, they don't give a shit about human rights, let alone animals.

It makes me sick to think anyone would support something like that by paying money to watch it.

There were (unfortunately) quite a few B Horror movies in the late 70s'/early80's that used real animal killings in certain scenes. Cannibal Holocaust and it's ripoff, Cannibal Ferrox, both have several scenes where they kill turtles, muskrats, snakes and other animals. Nekromantic has an awful scene that I HATE, where they kill a rabbit slowly. So does Pink Flamingoes, where they kill the chicken. I guess the directors were trying to raise the bar and make the viewer feel that anything was possible in the movie, but it really just ruined these movies. Horror movie violence is one thing;sometimes its fake and cheesy and fun, other times the special effects are so convincing it's like watching a magic trick. But when they do crap like that, it feels totally out of place in the movie.

I've been trying to find a copy of this on the torrent networks, the reviews of it looked pretty good. Supposed to be a really tripped out low budget b-movie. Not sure how I missed this one.

Men Behind The Sun is a horrible movie..nothing scary or interesting about it. And no animals were killed....that was proven a while back..

another dissappointment for me? Salo...horrible film...Cannibal Holocaust was an interesting watch.....

the most scary to me? Ummm....i'd have to go with The Exorcist & Poltergiest.

Salo, oh god, LOL. Naked teenagers crawling around on the floor with dog collars around their necks, eating shit, while some old tramp talks dirty. The cinematography was nice, but that was about it, LOL smile

Quite a few of Dario Argento's movies still spook me even nowdays. The psychedelic dreamy underwater scene in Inferno, the Elena Markos finale of Suspiria, the tripped out ending to Opera where the killer is chasing them on the grassy hill, and she zones out and starts talking to the bug. His movies usually have a really bizzare atmosphere and loud, surreal colors. It's almost the same effect as a David Lynch movie, where everything just feels off base and disturbing. Even his first film, The Bird With The Crystal Plumage, has some creepy scenes where the killer is jabbing at the camera with the knife.

Another movie I always kinda liked was Black Christmas. It's a bit dry by todays standards, but it's creepy because the killer is in the house with them the whole time, up in the attic. The movie feels more believable, because the women in it aren't your stereotypical dingbat sorrority girls prancing around half naked and having sex through the whole movie. They're alot sharper, more down to earth, and realistic. It was interesting seeing Andrea Martin from SCTV play a more serious role. Margot Kidder is in it as well, basically playing herself, LOL.

I hate scary movies--I rarely watch them...I'm such a wimp. (I think it's b/c my parents wouldn't let my brother and me watch them as kids.) But I have seen a few and one that still scares me is Candyman. I saw it in HS and was scared, then it was on TV when I lived in Chicago (where the film is set) and even though I was in my mid twenties, it was still too scary for me to watch in the middle of the afternoon!

BTW, I also got nightmares from reading Bram Stoker's Dracula (again in my mid 20s.) boxed

YES, thats the one. had me fucked up for YEARS. saw a little of it when i was little - my mom was watchin it told me to leave the room my hard headed ass decided to stay and boy did i pay. had me scared of mirrors for YEARS, i couldnt be in the bathroom alone or nothin. so then my cousin has the bright idea that i should just watch the whole thing to concure my fear, so i watched it in full a few yrs later and fucked me up again. to this day me and mirrors aint too cool
Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...

Okay, I guess that would only be humorous to a Trekkie like myself. geek razz

My answer would be "The Exorcist", "The Omen", and "Amityville Horror". Great 1970s horror/suspense films.

oops...forgot the img tags!

this will sound dumb, but i've been watching a BBC documentary on insects called "life in the undergrowth", and it's been scaring the crap out of me. i have major issues with scorpions and spiders, and they've been showing all kinds of crazy stuff like how scorpions mate and how spiders spin webs and wrap up their prey...it scares the CRAP out of me, more than any recent horror film has even come close to doing.

i mean, come on...TRAP DOOR SPIDERS???? those things aren't right. shake

oh, i was screaming and yelling at the television all the way through. if it wasn't filmed and narrated so beautifully, i would have turned it off and thrown the DVD out the window.
