If you like beer -REAL beer wink - you should come to Belgium for a couple of days and try Duvel, Trappist (abbey beer) or some of our fruit beers, like Kriek (cherry beer, SO good) or Pecheresse (Peach beer)... just a hint!

wrong, for real beer you have to go to Munich:

I don't care about the beer, just gimme that pretzel! drool

Good, so you can experience Amsterdam in a way most foreigners are not able to because they are too strung out on everything.

If you like Rembrandt alot you're in for a treat! It's Rembrandt year with loads of nice exhibitions...

Let me know if you are going to include Amsterdam, I can tell you about all the fun places to go see.

We're definitely going to be heading that way. I'm big on Rembrandt, but the other three aren't exactly art fans. They can shop or something while I go to a museum, I figure. nod

Do you live there/near there? What's fun that's not overly touristy?

Amsterdam is a must-see, there's a lot here and really, it is quite easy to avoid the tourist-stuff. Don't worry about that marihuana-thing if you're not intersted in it.....if you don't want it, you'll hardly notice it.
Lots of culture (museums), great architecture, nice people and fun nightlife, if you know here to go..... Be informed, look further than your Lonely Planet book.

Well, seeing as how we all smoke regularly here (it's not legal, but it's so prevalent police don't bother you unless you've got a huge amount or a grow-op) trying out the marijuana in Amsterdam just isn't that exciting to us. I'm sure if we were from the U.S. or even a stricter part of Canada it'd all be terribly new and adventurous to try it out. And like I said, from what I hear our pot is more potent anyways, so it'd be a waste of time and money, I think. Besides, going to the Anne Frank House high just seems disrespectful somehow. razz

The museums shouldn't be too hard to figure out, but I've got no clue what there is for nightlife.

I don't smoke pot (anymore) so I wouldn't know or care what 'potent' pot is....just do a little research and you'll find that Amsterdam is a lot more than just the free-haven for dope-heads.....(disbelief an image I detest) and certainly worth a visit!
