Yes!

I have a recipe somewhere for dandelion wine, though I've never tried making it.

Just searched for a dandelion wine receipe, and this is what I found:

Dandelion Wine

Dandelion wine does not require any special equipment to make. Just dandelions, some sugar and yeast, oranges and lemons, and pots to boil water in. This recipe uses cloves, which I think give it a nice touch. If you have dandelions around, give it a try!
1 package dried yeast
1/4 cup warm water
2 quarts dandelion blossoms
4 quarts water
1 cup orange juice
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
8 whole cloves
1/2 teaspoon powdered ginger
3 tablespoons coarsely chopped orange peel
1 tablespoon coarsely chopped lemon peel
6 cups sugar
Dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Set aside.
Wash the dandelion blossoms well. Put them in the water with the orange, lemon and lime juices. Add the cloves, ginger, orange and lemon peel, and sugar. Bring to a boil and continue to boil for an hour. Strain through filter paper (coffee filters work great). Cool. While still warm (but not hot), stir in the yeast.

Let stand overnight and pour into bottles. Allow uncorked bottles to set in a darkened place for three weeks. Then cork and store bottles in a cool place. Makes about 4 quarts.

Actually, this sounds good. smile

Dandelions are one of my favourites. They're only a weed because people said so. I say they're beautiful flowers. smile

I heard the young leaves when dried and ground up make a pretty decent coffee too. smile

Lilacs are surely a sign of Spring.

I love, love the smell of them..

I have some on the side of my house. I think they belong to my neighbor.

Too bad they don't last very long.

There are gardens near Niagara Falls Ontario that have over 1200 lilacs, more than 200 different varieties!!!
I've never seen them at their peak, it must be exquisite.
It's one of the largest gardens in the world, they train most of the top horticulturists. biggrin

I LOVE lilacs!!!!!

Yesterday I was taking a long walk listening to my ipod and I had to stop and pick one off a tree so I could smell it's lovely aroma. It is a beautiful color to it too.

Lilacs remind me of my childhood. They prosper in my home state of Minnesota and even grow along the highways.
