RESTORING your IPod... Do you have to let it charge fully before you reload it w/ music?
I'm so irritated, about to walk out the door to have a run/walk, my battery appeared FULL... 10 SECONDS (!!!) into the first song the fucker died! So I'm doing the restore thing for the first time, it's supposed to defragment the hard drive (I think). Has anyone else had to do this? How did it work? I always got a IPod question, huh?

are you loading your music from a PC or laptop? A normal PC charges your iPod when you loading, a laptop doesn't and sucks the battery dry.....better have it charged fully.

I'm doing it from a PC... I just wondered if charging it simultaneously after restoring it would fuck up the process. But I guess it wouldn't since it does it simultaneously @ all other times, huh? DAMN, how do I know it's charged enough to just last an hour?? This exercise getup I'm wearing ain't cool

Mine is never fully charged when I add music to it from my laptop...I have never had any problems. But it also charges at the same time cause mine is a shuffle and plugs directly into the USB port on my laptop.

Notorious Ipod problem that...one which Apple is refusing to aknowledge. Mines exactly the same - fully charged up yesterday, not used since charge, flat today. But then again I wouldnt trust the battery indicator...it goes up and down more than a sexy cheerleader knickers

I think I'll make a point to restore whenever I've made drastic changes to the contents of the Pod. This was my first time restoring & I've had this thing over a year

It is possible for it to be plugged in without actually recharging.

Here's something weird: when I charged mine today it wiped out all my playlists on the Pod So I had to reload it all over again

If I had one, I'd take it to work instead of a CD player. However, I'm starting to rip from all my CDs, put a day's worth of music on my USB drive, then just plug in at work and use Windows Media Player. I'm on the computer all evening at work anyway, so no big deal having to be plugged in.

I'll probably never have one. Or a mobile phone.

I used to say that, too. I love my Ipod. I have a minidisc player, but that's just my only way of listening to some music I've made that's only on that format. I'm more likely to get an Ipod than a mobile phone, but it's still not likely to happen anytime soon. It might be useful while on a plane or something, but walking around with headphones on in Bangkok is asking for trouble. You need all your senses alert just to stay alive in this absurd metropolis. ... [Edited 4/21/06 19:25pm]

http://www.apple.com/supp...d/five_rs/ Problem is its only the USA that are replacing Ipods on battery grounds (and that was after a HUGE fight)...all other countries are taking the 'tough shit' approach to the battery being duff

I usually let my iPod charge for about a good 15-30 minutes if I'm going to be out and about using a long time. I have a 60 GB 5th generation [video iPod] so usually a 15-30 min charge will last me an 1-1.5 hrs. if it was completely drained. If you have a car, you can always buy an iCarPlayWireless or some sort of adapter to plug into your car's cigarette lighter if you can't wait. It charges while you listen.

My Ipod's been freezing constantly. I restored it twice, and the problem persisted. I sent it into Apple for repairs, they send it back claiming that "no trouble was found," and guess what? The damn thing persists on being a little plastic bullshit man.
