This years birthday surprise Every year I like to try and do something special and unique for my mommy's birthday. Well on Saturday she was in the house and I walked in and asked her if she saw what happened on the other side of her car. She has an old Volkswagen Van. So she came out of the house all concerned asking "is it really bad?" And I told her I wasn't really sure that she needed to come see for her self.
When she came around the corner she just gasped and said Oh my god Laying there were all her favorite treats. I bought cases of Coke, a few dozen Abba Zabbas, a few dozen Skor toffee bars, a huge bag of Jelly Bellys, a giant tub of cashews and two boxes of 50 individual sized Regular Lays potato chips. She is always wanting Lays potato chips for her lunch and she tries to stretch a 99 cent bag to last all week. Now she can splurge a little bit And on top was a card and I just thanked her for everything she did for all of us and told her she is the best mom in the world.....cuz it's true It was so sweet cuz she started crying and I was so glad it made her feel good. My mom deserves it Just wanted to share 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

.....Mom?
Yes. Joy, Apples and Sammi said Happy birthday. who? I didn't expect her to cry but it made me feel so awesome that she was so touched. My mom grew up with nothing. They were so poor and so now she'll stretch one coke to last like 3 days or the bag of chips to last 5 days. I know she loves all these things and she'll probaby still try and stretch stuff but at least she knows she doesn't have to, at least not for a while. And the individual chips are perfect cuz she can just grab one or two and have the same amount of chips she usually would be eating out of a bigger bag but they won't go stale. I love my mom so much and she deserves anything that can make her life easier and better. That's what I always try to do for her 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I myself hope to see mom in ten days time when I will be flying across the Atlantic for the occassion, even though I know she is still convalescing from heart surgery which she underwent just a few months ago. I always try to pull out all the stops in order to help her in as much as I can. After all she devoted the best years of her life bringing up five unruly children, and I was one of those unruly children . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

aww that was sooo sweet!
it's the little things that are so touching, all her favorite snacks, that just shows how attentive to her needs you are! That's probably why she cried, you are so observant and attentive to others, what a jewel! We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou
