Ooh very nice!! thats the sort of thing I'd like, I wouldnt want a hen night or bachelorette party as you call it in the states, with drinking, strippers etc rolleyes the drinking yes wink but not the strippers and flirting with every guy in town...not my thing! A nice meal, girly things like that, sounds more like it!!

no ... no drinking / strippers / bar kida vibe

those were almost fun at 20 ... but no so much at 40

that and she is a shamanic priestess ... so that whole party like that vibe doesnt fit her well

What a fun shower...I would rather go to that shower that the traditional, boring, find-a-quarter-taped-to-the=bottom-of-your-plate-to-win-a-potholder type smile

That is really, really beautiful.

I would choose something like that over a traditional bridal shower any day.

Hey Mach...

Really nice ! I give you my official Turkish approval lol ....

I see baklava there....and olives and veggie dips and hummus ?

Ahhhhh....I miss Turkey....will go there in a couple of months.

My aunts and uncles had three-day-long wedding parties when I was a kid...people used to prepare huge meals for days, lots of rice stuff (pilav) and stuffed vegetagbles and aubergine/eggplant meals with gallons of olive oil.

Gipsy bands played crazy music with their big drums and clarinettes, sometimes even fortunetellers came to the parties in the villages.

Hey , Oliver Stone was in Istanbul last year and apologized for Midnight Express lol .

My uncle went to jail right after his Turkish wedding because some fools were shooting in the air and my friend got hit by a bullet...he was standing next to me.
Anyway, my uncle didn´t want to snitch, because it was his wedding and he was the host, so he voluntarily went to prison. I visited him there.

Turkish prisons ain´t no joke, but not as horrible as portrayed in movies either.

People drink lots of black tea in prison.

The film is bad...I mean, not because I´m Turkish but simply because it´s a bad film. It has two directors and they didn´t really collaborate or cooperate,Alan Parker´s half of the film is drastically different in style, the pseudo-Turkish policemen in the film are, oh what a coincidence, played by Greeks and Armenians who speak bad Turkish in their scenes, and it is obviously meant as some sort of propaganda, which I don´t mind, let them have fun, but it´s simply badly executed. Even the guy that the story is based on tried to explain to people that the film´s story was exaggerated.

Anyway, yes, my friend lived, the bullet went through his cheek , and I was very lucky..so was he, in the end.

My uncle stayed in prison for about two or three months, the dude who fired the shots apologized, and all was good in the end...I´m glad people practicing those stupid traditions like shooting in the air get severely punished these days..
