Back when I lived back home, we only had pets for short amount of times. One time we had a dog (gave him to another family), a cat (gave him to another family), and a squirrel (ran around on our lawn after fertilizing, died the next day). All cases were when I was too young to really care, so I haven't had to deal with that type of loss.

That's terrible.  And she was so young as well.
Bonds with animals in a way are more pure than bonds with people because animals are unassuming and their affection is unconditional. I have had a VERY hard time losing pets before, and I imagine that trend will continue. Still, I can say that in the end, it was definitely worth the experience. I'm sure you enriched her life just as much as she enriched yours. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018!
